Work in "1C" with pleasure!

The 1C company often received requests from users of Macintosh computers, with a request to provide the opportunity to run software products on their personal computers. 1C listened to the wishes of users and developed the long-awaited platform of its system for Mac OS X. We will tell you about how this configuration differs from Windows and how to install it in this article.

Consider the main characteristics:

  • running Mac in beta;
  • distribution for Mac OS added to the platform package;
  • demo database can be downloaded in dt format;
  • local and client-server operation is supported, as well as via the http protocol;
  • 64-bit system type.

According to the developers, full compatibility with servers of the same version was ensured.

The latest version of the platform supports native retina displays, allows you to use several versions of the platform at the same time, as well as software and hardware protection. But there are also a number of limitations.

As 1C experts noted, a number of functions for Windows are not supported in the Mac client.

The following technologies are missing and are not planned to be developed:

  • COM technology and all its possibilities, namely: work with COMObject; launching the 1C:Enterprise platform in the Automation server mode; external components developed using this technology;
  • 1C:Enterprise server cluster administration console;
  • Working with the Mail object. Instead of this object, it is highly recommended to use the default mail application or, for example, the InternetMail object;
  • Using Windows Metafiles (WMF, EMF).

Not supported in existing version, but it is planned to be implemented in the latest version:

  • Automatic selection of the version of the platform for working with information security (infobase);
  • Configuration update via http;
  • External components created using Native API technology;
  • Installing a configuration template in OS X;
  • Working configurations with OS X menu bar;
  • Working with a file infobase located on the network;
  • Working with external data sources on the client and configurator side;
  • User authentication by means of the operating system.

1C developers note that the beta version is available to everyone who uses it at work and who has it.

No release date announced yet final version 1C:Enterprise applications for OS X. The beta is distributed free of charge.

Now let's move on to the most important question: how to install 1C on Mac OS.
