Windows. Viruses. Notebooks. Internet. office. Utilities. Drivers

Good day friends.

Have you set a password for certain information on your computer, and now you want to remove it? Don't know how to do it? This article presents simple instructions how to disable Bitlocker - the very program that protects your data from hacking.

Bitlocker is a built-in security utility in Windows systems. important information from unauthorized access. By installing it, the owner of the computer puts everything or individual files password. The application allows you to save it on external media or print it in order to leave the PIN only in memory, because it can also let you down.

Encryption of information lies in the fact that the program converts it into a special format that can be read only after entering the password.

If you try to open a file without it, you will see unrelated numbers and letters.

Initially, you can configure the utility so that the lock is released when a flash drive with a key is inserted. It is better to have several media with a password.

Important! If you forget and lose all the keys, along with them you will lose access to all data on the disk (or flash drive) forever.

For the first time, the application started working in an extended version Windows Vista. Now it is available for other generations of this system.

Ways to disable Bitlocker

You don't have to be a hacker or a professional IT person to cancel the blocking. Everything is done simply; of course, if you set the password yourself, and are not going to hack other people's data. This is true? Then let's start the discussion.

There are several ways to unlock files. The simplest one looks like this:

  • Click right click mouse on the desired disk and in the pop-up window click "Manage BitLoker";

  • A new menu will open, where you should select the item " turn off» (disable).

When you reinstall Windows 10 or another version of the OS, you will need to pause encryption. To complete it, follow the instructions below:

  • Open Start - Control Panel - System and Security - BitLocker Drive Encryption;
  • Select "Suspend protection", or "Manage BitLocker" - then "Turn off BitLocker" (In Win7).
  • Click "Yes" to confirm that you are deliberately disabling it.

Through the same menu, you can completely turn off the lock by clicking on the corresponding button.

Keep in mind that Windows Vista and other versions of the system may have different names for the sections described above. But anyway you'll find desired settings through the control panel. For example, in Windows 8 you can open it like this:

To be honest, I don’t know how to disable this encryptor if the password is lost ... I can only recommend formatting the device - as a result of which the disk will be available for work. But in this scenario, all the data on it will naturally disappear.

Well, that's all, I hope it was helpful.

See you soon friends!

In modern versions of Windows, two standard methods of protecting data are used. encryption- through a special BitLocker component operating system or using encryption file system EFS. The first option is available only to users of certain Windows versions 7, and the second is used in all releases of this Windows line.

You will need

  • Windows OS.

Instruction

If the BitLocker component of the Windows 7 operating system is used to encrypt data on a drive, use one of the Control Panel applets to disable it. Before you run it, install a disk or connect a flash drive, if we are talking about disabling encryption of any removable media. Then launch the "Control Panel" by selecting the appropriate item in the main menu of the OS, and go to the "System and Security" section. Find the BitLocker Drive Encryption link in the long list and click on it with your mouse pointer.

The applet window that opens contains a list of computer storage media divided into two sections. The top section is for hard drives, while the bottom one is subtitled BitLocker To Go and includes a list of removable media. The drive icon in each line of the list is labeled "On" or "Off" to indicate whether or not that drive is encrypted with BitLocker.

To temporarily stop BitLocker, click on the "Pause protection" link in the line of the required drive and confirm the command in the dialog box that appears. To completely disable the protection, click on the "Turn off BitLocker" link, and then click on "Decrypt Drive" to make it possible to use the data after turning off this component.

If a special EFS file system was used to encrypt data, you need to disable it in the properties of the file or folder. To do this, start the manager Windows files- right-click on the "Start" button and select "Open File Explorer" from the context menu.

Navigate to the folder that contains the desired file and right-click on it. In the context menu, select the "Properties" item, and when the settings window opens, click the "Others" button.

In the new "Additional Attributes" window, uncheck the "Encrypt content to protect" box and click OK. In the file properties window, also click on the OK button, and file encryption will be disabled.

Today, each user has to think about protecting confidential information from unauthorized persons. Manufacturers mobile devices care about future customers and their right to privacy, so more and more attention is paid to the preservation of personal data. Tablets can also be classified as personal devices, so let's talk about protecting them.

Is it possible to disable encryption on the tablet?

The system functions of modern tablets support the encryption mode of information stored both on internal memory device or on an external SD card. It should be remembered that working encryption has a negative impact on the performance of the device. Those who value computing power over the safety of personal data should definitely read this article.

If you were lucky enough to get hold of an Android tablet that was originally based on a version of the operating system, you will not be able to turn off the encryption function. The developers decided to enforce forced encryption of information on the latest versions of the OS, but do not despair, because hackers also do not sleep. There is no doubt that these workers will soon offer their own solution to this problem. At the same time, tablets whose operating system has been updated to the latest version from earlier ones are not limited by such restrictions, so the option to turn off encryption is available. However, we recommend that you think about whether you really need it so much?

On earlier Android versions, up to 2.3.4., encryption must be started manually. This option is in the settings menu: Security->Encryption->Encrypt device. It must be borne in mind that after that it is impossible to decrypt the encrypted data, since the developer did not provide for such a possibility. Thus, if you need to decrypt information, its loss is inevitable. To do this, you will need to reset the device to factory settings from the "recovery" mode.

To perform such a reset, in the off state of the tablet, hold down the volume up and down keys on it at the same time, as well as the power key. Will be uploaded to engineering menu, where using the volume buttons you need to find the menu item "wipe data / factory reset" and, having selected it, press the power key. When the reset operation is completed, you must reboot by selecting "reboot". After booting into working mode on the tablet, you should restore personal data, and then no longer start encryption.

You use your Android smartphone (tablet) to save personal photos, read important emails, make online purchases with your credit card, editing and sharing important documents? If your answer is yes, then you should consider encrypting your device.

Unlike iPhone, android devices do not automatically encrypt the data stored on them, even if you use a password to unlock the device, but if you are using Android Gingerbread 2.3.4 or higher, then encryption is easy to enable.

Encrypting your phone means that if the phone is locked, then the files are encrypted. Any files sent to and received from your phone will not be encrypted unless you use additional methods.

The only difference between an unencrypted and an encrypted phone from the user's point of view is that you will now have to use a password to unlock the phone (tablet).

If your phone is not encrypted, then the password is just a screen lock. In fact, in this case the password simply locks the screen - that is, does nothing to protect the files that are stored on the device. So, if attackers find a way to bypass the lock screen, then they get full access to your files.

If the phone is encrypted, the password is the key that decrypts the encrypted files.

That is, when the phone is locked, all data is encrypted, and even if attackers find a way to bypass the lock screen, then all they find is encrypted data.

How to enable encryption on an Android device?

1. Open the Settings menu.

2. In Settings, select Security > Encryption (Encrypt device).

3. As required, you must enter a password of at least six characters, at least one of which is a number.

As soon as you set a password, the process of encrypting your files will start. Encryption can take an hour or more, so you must turn on the charger before encryption can begin.

Once the encryption process is complete, you're done! Make sure to save your password in a safe place, because now you will need it every time you want to access your phone. Please note that if you forget your password, there is currently no way to recover it.

In fact, encryption of Android devices, along with obvious advantages, also has significant disadvantages:

  1. Imagine that every time you want to make a call, you need to type in a complex password. I wonder how soon you'll get tired of it?
  2. You will not be able to decrypt an encrypted device, it is simply not provided. For decryption is the only way- reset the phone to factory settings. In this case, of course, all your data will be lost. It will look especially interesting if you forget to make a backup beforehand.

Thus, today there is a difficult choice - either you encrypt your device and put up with huge inconvenience, or you get ease of use, but at the expense of security. Which path will you choose? I don't know. Which path would I choose? I can't answer either. I just do not know.
