Windows. Viruses. Laptops. Internet. Office. Utilities. Drivers

I welcome the members of the Experts Club, as well as all the guests who visited this page.

We tend to be, if not afraid, at least afraid of smartphones that are too cheap. Like, if life forces you to use such a device, then all hell breaks loose! They take really bad photos, the screens are simply disgusting, the “slowdown” is terrible, and if it’s a carrier’s smartphone, then it will also be locked.

Therefore, during the holidays it is already customary to wish not only happiness, health, good luck, but also that fate does not lead you to smartphones for three thousand rubles (just kidding). So this is what I mean: fate brought me together with such a smartphone. And I even stayed with him for two weeks. And you know what I can say after this test? I could easily go on with him!

I reveal my cards: we are talking about Vertex Impress Luck - very inexpensive smartphone from the first largest B-brand in the modern Russian market of smart handsets. Vertex Impress Luck can be bought for just over 3 thousand rubles. I don’t even know what to compare this with. Probably, in Moscow or St. Petersburg this is the average bill for dinner in a cafe for two.

Vertex Impress Luck left a good impression for a reason. There is every reason to believe that the appearance of this rather successful device for less than three rubles is a direct consequence of the policy of the Russian brand Vertex. According to its own account, Vertex has three key principles. To be the first in a) quality, b) design and c) technological features and/or price. The situation with quality is this: Vertex’s defect rate is on average around 2%, while other local smartphone brands have 5% and 10%. 2% is generally the level of HTC or LG, for example.

Well, before moving on to the story directly about the smartphone, I’ll mention two more points. First: Vertex Impress Luck became the first in terms of smartphone sales during the pre-New Year sales in the MegaFon chain of stores. Second: at the end of 2017, Vertex had the sixth place in smartphone sales in Russia. And the first among local Russian brands. This is probably also a consequence of the “three pillars” approach described above.

Appearance

I remember when I first took the Vertex Impress Luck out of the box, I was amazed. The reason for the amazement was that it has an extremely pleasant body material - such velvety, soft-to-touch plastic. No, this is not a typical rubber with a bad smell, like many smartphones costing 3-4 thousand. This is exactly the kind of plastic velvet. After this, you somehow immediately forget about the budget essence of Vertex Impress Luck - it feels more expensive than it actually costs.

The design of the back cover of the Vertex Impress Luck is reminiscent of the iPhone 5c, although it did not have a black version, but if we ignore the color, there is definitely a resemblance.

By the way, about color. Vertex Impress Luck can be not only black, but also golden. The last option, I think, is even prettier. But, alas, I had a less bright black version.

The back panel of the Vertex Impress Luck is removable. Below it is, again, removable battery 2,200 mAh, as well as three card slots at once - two for SIM cards, one for a flash drive. By the way, this is an important advantage of most cheap smartphones: they are the only ones that allow you to change the battery without visiting a service center and insert three cards at once! You won’t find this even in devices costing more than 10 thousand; they only have built-in batteries and, most often, combined slots for cards. Or two SIM cards, or one SIM card and in addition to it MicroSD. With Vertex Impress Luck, I repeat, everything is old-school, like in ancient times, when smartphones were a) collapsible and b) convenient.

The back panel has cutouts for the camera, flash and speaker. The speaker is of medium volume - you can, of course, listen to a song with two or three, but you can’t organize a disco for a crowd of friends here.

The smartphone does not have a light sensor, and this is precisely a reflection of its budget nature. You cannot adjust the screen brightness automatically, only manually. But there are other components that are usually located above the display in smartphones. These are: proximity sensor, speaker and front camera. Vertex Impress Luck conveys the voice of the interlocutor well, without rustling or metallic notes, the proximity sensor turns off the screen during the conversation, but the 2 MP front camera with flash... More on that later, but you probably already understood that photo masterpieces with you can't do it with her help.

Below the display are three standard ones for Android smartphones. touch buttons. Everything is fine with them, except for one thing: there is no backlight. So in the dark you have to poke at random. This is a minus, but what can you do?

But there are no questions about the power and volume keys. They are on the right and are located very conveniently. It’s easy to feel them - you definitely won’t make a mistake or confuse them.

On top of the case there is a MicroUSB port and a standard headphone jack. The ports are located nearby, but you can plug in both headphones and a cable at the same time. So listening to music while the Vertex Impress Luck is charging is possible.

Screen

Often, smartphones costing 3,500-4,000 rubles have screens with a diagonal of 4.5 inches, that is, very small and not very convenient for browsing the Internet and playing games. Vertex Impress Luck offers honest 5 inches, but not simple ones, but flavored with an IPS matrix. Yes, obviously not the most expensive. Yes, with insufficient color rendering - the colors fade into warm tones. And yet, this is IPS: black color is black, not gray, viewing angles are wide, colors are saturated.

In general, we can say that Vertex tried hard and put in an ultra-budget smartphone not a cheap TN matrix (as in the vast majority of budget phones), which hurts the eyes, but an IPS one. This, of course, cannot but rejoice.

And yes, about the color temperature, which is shifted to the warm region. Vertex Impress Luck has many tools, combined under the name MiraVision (developed by MediaTek), that allow you to customize the picture. Including making it colder, bringing it closer to the standard. So the minus described above is, in general, not a minus.

It remains to add that the screen resolution is 480 x 854 pixels. At the same time, the display supports simultaneous pressing of only two fingers. Although this is quite enough for browsing the Internet, making calls and correspondence.

Software

Vertex Impress Luck works based on operating system Android 7.0 Nougat.

The main screen has only one desktop.

The menu is implemented on one page with a scroll bar. In my opinion, the ribbon menu is inferior to the page menu in terms of navigation speed. The smartphone is practically not cluttered with third-party software, and the additional software that is installed can be easily removed.

And yes, there is an over-the-air update in Vertex Impress Luck. I even managed to catch one update. I didn’t notice anything new after installing it, so apparently the developers simply optimized something.

Camera

The main camera has a 5 megapixel matrix. The camera does not have autofocus.

You shouldn’t expect anything in terms of photo capabilities from a smartphone. The examples show that the pictures are of low quality. The image is blurry and lacks sufficient color.

The front camera is equipped with a 2 megapixel matrix. There is no autofocus, but there is a flash. The quality of the resulting photos is not that bad, considering the quality of the images from the main camera.

In progress

To begin with, I will say that the Vertex Impress Luck is a 3G smartphone. What else could you expect? There is no LTE for such a price, let's come back to earth and stop dreaming about the (yet) unrealistic. In general, closer to the point: the Vertex Impress Luck uses a MediaTek MT6580 chipset with four Cortex-A7 cores (up to 1.3 GHz) and simple Mali-400MP graphics. There is 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of flash memory. So to speak, the necessary minimum.

But here it’s worth making a reservation: it’s very possible to play on this device! Yes, you won’t see all the beauties invented by the authors of the games; they will be mercilessly cut off. And yet Asphalt 8 runs great on low/medium settings. WoT Blitz is also coming - you can easily “hunt” on a warm May evening.

Synthetic test results.

There are no issues with the wireless modules, everything works fine. Even navigation, which is something you wouldn’t expect from a smartphone of this class, and even on a MediaTek chipset. Usually from such devices (only slightly more expensive, since Vertex’s closest competitors cost from 3,500 rubles) you only expect glitches, but with the Vertex Impress Luck everything works more or less normally.

Autonomous operation

2200 mAh gives one and a half to two days of work. Is this too much? Is this not enough? This, of course, is not the ultimate dream, but it’s pretty good. Even expensive flagships usually don't work anymore. So Vertex Impress Luck is within the market average. Well, let me remind you once again that the battery in the model is removable. You can buy another battery (it will cost 500 rubles) and use it in turn with the one that comes in the kit.

Conclusion

The first in price – that’s what the developers from Vertex call Impress Luck. Yes, the device, with its price of just over 3,000 rubles, is truly the cheapest on the market. The cheapest - but clearly not the worst. He is very decent, if not “good”. The case is a like, the screen is a second like, the hardware is a like again, the battery is no better and no worse than others, the software is also a like. Dislike only for cameras, but cameras are not easy things, even smartphones for 10,000 rubles do not always take good pictures.

That's all for me, make smart purchases and enjoy your new acquisitions.

I express special gratitude to the administration of the Experts Club for the opportunity to post this review.

Satellite navigation:

GPS(Global Positioning System - global positioning system) - satellite system navigation, providing measurement of distance, time, speed and determining the location of objects anywhere on the Earth. The system is developed, implemented and operated by the US Department of Defense. The basic principle of using the system is to determine location by measuring distances to an object from points with known coordinates - satellites. The distance is calculated by the delay time of signal propagation from sending it by the satellite to receiving it by the antenna of the GPS receiver.
GLONASS(Global Navigation Satellite System) - Soviet and Russian satellite navigation system, developed by order of the USSR Ministry of Defense. The measurement principle is similar to the American system GPS navigation. GLONASS is designed for operational navigation and timing support for land, sea, air and space-based users. The main difference from the GPS system is that GLONASS satellites in their orbital motion do not have resonance (synchrony) with the rotation of the Earth, which provides them with greater stability.

Packaging and delivery

Vertex Impress Luck NFC (4G) is supplied in a small black cardboard box. The box contains a color image of the smartphone itself, as well as its detailed technical characteristics and the delivery set. The box is sealed by the manufacturer.

The package includes accumulator battery, USB cable, AC charger, user manual and warranty card. The smartphone screen is protected by a transport film on which the main features of this model are indicated.

I note that the included charger is 5V 1A, which is what the vast majority of smartphones come with. Therefore, if necessary, finding a replacement for it will not be difficult.

Unfortunately, no additional accessories, not even protective film for the screen, not included. However, it is pleasant to note that protective glass and a case for this model are still available for sale.

Appearance

The Vertex Impress Luck NFC (4G) smartphone has an entirely plastic body; expecting glass or metal in this price segment would be simply stupid. But back cover This model has a Soft-touch coating that is resistant to various stains. And holding a smartphone with such a coating in your hand is very convenient and pleasant. The dimensions of the smartphone are 144x73x9.5 mm and weighs 290 grams. Using Vertex Luck NFC (4G) with one hand is quite comfortable, well, at least for an adult.

Vertex Impress Luck NFC (4G) is available in two colors, with a back cover in black or blue. The side frames of the screen in both cases are black.

Most front panel The smartphone is occupied by a 5" screen with an aspect ratio of 16:9, I will talk about it in more detail in the next section of the review. Above the screen there is a speaker, a front camera, light and proximity sensors, as well as a flash. Personally, instead of the latter, I would prefer to see an LED indicator of missed events, but the manufacturer considered that a flash would be more appropriate here.

Below the screen there are three touch buttons without backlight.

Connectors charger, and wired headphones placed on the upper end of the smartphone body.

There is a microphone at the bottom end of the case. There is also a small recess on one of the corners that helps you remove the back cover.

The keys for adjusting the volume level and turning on/locking the smartphone are located on the right side of the case. I note that the buttons protrude slightly from the body, making them very convenient to use.

On the back of the smartphone there is a main camera with a flash, a multimedia speaker and the manufacturer’s logo. The back cover itself is removable. On its inner side there is an antenna for the NFC module.

Under the back cover there is also removable battery, two slots for SIM cards in nano-SIM format, as well as a slot for a memory card in microSD format.

When using Vertex Impress Luck NFC (4G) it leaves a pleasant impression. It is well assembled, the side buttons do not play, and the back cover does not creak or bend when you press it. The dimensions and weight of the smartphone make it easy to use with one hand. And thanks to the practical Soft-touch coating, Vertex Impress Luck NFC (4G) not only looks great, but is also less susceptible to various stains. In general, he gets an unambiguous pass for his appearance.

Screen

The Vertex Impress Luck NFC (4G) smartphone has a budget 5" screen with a resolution of 854x480 pixels. However, the matrix is made using IPS technology and has good color rendition and excellent viewing angles. In sunny weather outside, the brightness of the screen backlight is noticeably lost, but it still remains readable

There is a light sensor, so it is possible to adaptively adjust the brightness of the screen backlight.

The sensor only recognizes two simultaneous taps on the screen. On the other hand for budget smartphone that's more than enough.

Overall the screen is not bad for this price segment. It has good color rendition, the backlight brightness is adjustable within a fairly wide range, and I did not notice any obvious defects when viewing various content. Of course I would like at least HD resolution, but I think that then this model would have cost a little more.

Software

The Vertex Impress Luck NFC (4G) smartphone is running under operating system control Android systems 8.1. Naturally, there is the possibility of obtaining current updates software by air.

The launcher is stock, there is a minimum of software garbage in the firmware.

There are quite a lot of desktop wallpapers preinstalled, so everyone can choose something to their liking.

It is possible to edit the status bar.

Out of the box, the interface works smoothly, delays when launching applications are minimal, and no freezes of the smartphone were noticed during testing.

Smartphone at work

At the core Vertex smartphone Impress Luck NFC (4G) is a bunch of quad-core MediaTek processor MT6739 and 1 GB of RAM. The processor operates at a maximum frequency of 1.5 GHz. The graphics subsystem is represented by the PowerVR GE8100 accelerator.

Despite the fact that a smartphone belongs to budget segment, its hardware component allows you to play quite comfortably modern games, albeit at medium or minimum settings graphics.

I note that under such a load, there is moderate heating of the case in the area of the main camera, but there is no drop in the performance of the smartphone.

As for the built-in memory, the Vertex Impress Luck NFC (4G) has only 8 GB on board. Out of the box, a little more than 5 GB is available for the user's needs; the rest of the memory is occupied by operating system files and pre-installed software. The smartphone also supports microSD memory cards.

The sensor set consists of an accelerometer, light and proximity sensors. They work correctly, I didn’t have any complaints about them while testing the smartphone.

I was also pleased with the performance of the navigation module. In open areas, the cold start is almost instantaneous. The smartphone is quite suitable for the role of a navigator.

As I said at the very beginning of the review, this smartphone supports networking fourth generation. The results of testing data transfer rates turned out to be quite good, the maximum we managed to get was 43.7 Mb/s for reception and 19 Mb/s for transmission (Khabarovsk, mobile operator- YOTA).

Vertex Impress Luck NFC (4G) is equipped with a pair of SIM card slots, both slots support 4G. During conversations, this model showed itself on the positive side; there were no questions about the speaker or the microphone.

One of the main features of the smartphone is the presence of an NFC module, which allows, among other things, contactless payments in stores or public transport. To do this, just install Google app Pay and save your bank card details in it.

The Vertex Impress Luck NFC (4G) smartphone is not a long-lived smartphone; it is equipped with a rather modest 2000 mAh battery. In the calls + instant messengers mode, the battery charge lasts for one working day, and if you load your smartphone with games, you shouldn’t count on autonomy for more than 3-4 hours.

Camera

The Vertex Impress Luck NFC (4G) smartphone has a 5 MP main camera and a 2 MP front camera. Both cameras have flashes but have a fixed focus.

The quality of the pictures is quite enough to capture something if necessary.

Also, the main camera allows you to record video in FullHD resolution at 30 fps, the output file format is *.3gp. It actually turns out quite well.

Conclusion

The Vertex Impress Luck NFC (4G) smartphone is a typical budget device, and, as it turns out, it’s quite good. The model has a couple of interesting features in its arsenal. The main advantages of this model are support for fourth generation networks and the presence of an NFC module. Yes, the smartphone has a low screen resolution, relatively little memory on board and a camera without autofocus, but due to this we managed to keep its cost down. In addition, this model does not look cheap, the smartphone is pleasant and convenient to use.
