A video card is a very complex device that requires maximum compatibility with installed hardware and software. Sometimes adapters experience problems that make it impossible to continue using them. In this article, we will talk about error code 43 and how you can fix it.

This problem most often occurs when working with older video cards, such as NVIDIA 8xxx, 9xxx and their contemporaries. It occurs for two reasons: driver errors or hardware failures, that is, hardware malfunctions. In both cases, the adapter will not function normally or will turn off altogether.

IN Device Manager such equipment is marked with a yellow triangle with an exclamation point.

Hardware failure

Let's start with the "iron" reason. It is the malfunctions of the device itself that can cause error 43. Elderly video cards, for the most part, have a solid TDP, which means high power consumption and, as a result, a high temperature in the load.

During overheating, the graphics chip may experience several problems: melting of the solder with which it is soldered to the card board, “dumping” of the crystal from the substrate (the adhesive compound melts), or degradation, that is, a decrease in performance due to too high frequencies after overclocking .

The surest sign of the "dump" of the graphics processor are "artifacts" in the form of stripes, squares, "lightning" on the monitor screen. It is noteworthy that when the computer is booted, on the motherboard logo and even in BIOS they are also present.

If "artifacts" are not observed, then this does not mean that this problem has bypassed you. In the event of significant hardware problems, Windows may automatically switch to the standard VGA driver on the motherboard or graphics processor.

The solution is as follows: it is necessary to diagnose the card in a service center. If a malfunction is confirmed, you need to decide how much the repair will cost. Perhaps "the game is not worth the candle" and it is easier to purchase a new accelerator.

A simpler way is to insert the device into another computer and watch it work. Is the error repeating? Then - to the service.

Driver errors

A driver is a firmware that helps devices communicate with each other and with the operating system. It is easy to guess that errors that occur in drivers can disrupt the operation of installed equipment.

Error 43 indicates a rather serious problem with the driver. This can be either damage to program files or conflicts with other software. It will not be superfluous to try to reinstall the program. How to do this, read in.

  1. Incompatibility standard Windows driver(or Intel HD Graphics) with the installed program from the video card manufacturer. This is the "lightest" form of the disease.
  2. Damaged driver files. In this case, it is necessary to replace the "bad files" with working ones. You can (try to) do this by simply installing a new distribution kit with the program over the old one. True, in most cases this will not help solve the problem. Often, driver files are used in parallel by other equipment or programs, which makes it impossible to overwrite them.

In this situation, you may need to completely remove the software using specialized utilities, one of which is Display Driver Uninstaller.

After a complete removal and reboot, install a new driver and, if you're lucky, welcome a working video card.

A special case with a laptop

Some users may not be satisfied with the version of the operating system installed on the purchased laptop. For example, there is a “ten”, and we want a “seven”.

As you know, two types of video cards can be installed in laptops: built-in and discrete, that is, connected to the appropriate slot. So, when installing a new operating system, it will be necessary to install all the necessary drivers without fail. Due to the inexperience of the installer, confusion can occur, as a result of which the general software for discrete video adapters (not for a specific model) will not be installed.

In this case, Windows will detect the BIOS of the device, but will not be able to interact with it. The solution is simple: be careful when reinstalling the system.

Radical measures

The last resort in solving problems with the video card is a complete reinstallation of Windows. But you need to resort to it as a last resort, because, as we said earlier, the accelerator could simply fail. This can only be determined at a service center, so first make sure that the device is working, and only then “kill” the system.
