Windows. Viruses. Notebooks. Internet. office. Utilities. Drivers

Such an intricate name is the proprietary shell for Android from Samsung. It is distinguished by an abundance of a wide variety of functions and a Korean-style bright interface. Many dislike Touchwiz for some congestion, which in turn causes even top-end ones to work not too quickly. mobile devices Samsung.

Samsung has completely changed the proprietary Android shell several times. From mid-2010 to early 2017, her smartphones used the . It was subsequently heavily redesigned and renamed the Samsung Experience. In early November, it became known that the company again made big changes and renamed the shell to One UI. The new video shows all its features.

Users already know that the beta version for samsung galaxy S8 and S8+ are being tested. More recently, another update intended for testing has been released. software. And it had a significant error affecting the operation operating system. Fortunately, it has already been fixed by Samsung.

You can go on and on about how cool design is, but in this world design is key, but not key enough to make users opt for the Galaxy S8. Consumers appreciate something else. The other one means the camera, the quality of the display and the speed of work in the interface - yes, we are not talking about hardware, because today it really is not so important.

Is it worth arguing about whether the flagships of Samsung turned out to be successful? In any case, everyone will have their own opinion, but let's say right away that most users liked the devices. At the same time, in addition to design changes, Samsung did a good job on its own shell, which was slightly improved. We offer to compare two versions for Galaxy S7 edge and Galaxy S8 Plus.

Is an era in the history of mobile software coming to an end? At least there were signs of it. Samsung seems to be leaving its well-known shell for operating systems - TouchWiz - in the past. From now on, it is called Samsung Experience. This change showed up in the recent beta version of Nougat for the Galaxy S7, whose interface is Samsung Experience 8. What does this mean for the many smartphone users from the South Korean tech giant?

No other shell, perhaps, causes such obvious hostility among the majority of users of devices running the Android OS as . She is accused of all mortal sins, starting with slowness and ending with the practical uselessness of built-in applications. At the same time, many of those who so desperately hate the development of Samsung have hardly been seen using it in the last year or two. Only a few can explain the essence of their claims to a completely functional and sometimes even convenient shell. But what if stock Android becomes like TouchWiz? I think it's a great idea.

Samsung has just announced the release of its brand new flagship duo, the . As expected, both smartphones received Android 6.0 Marshmallow and Samsung's latest TouchWiz user interface, designed specifically for this platform.

So far we have seen touchwiz, based on , in beta versions only. Just the other day a new one user interface appeared in several countries on the Galaxy S6, S6 EDGE and Note 5 devices. But it will probably take a long time until it covers the entire modern the lineup companies with the appropriate platform and will spread around the world, in particular, will reach our country. With a limited amount of time at their disposal, journalists were able to look at new Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge and try them out. They made sure that the devices received a new user shell and found out how TouchWiz looks now. Basically, the interface retains the look familiar from the 2015 build. It's even more feature-packed, but it's noticeably smaller than the bulky Galaxy S6 variant. It has become more convenient and better organized.

The most notable of additional options that the new TouchWiz brings is Always On Display- always active display. You'll be happy to know that it will also be available for all phones that receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS update. The "chip" of the innovation patented by the manufacturer is that the AMOLED screen consumes energy only when displaying content, and in the active "standby" state it consumes no more than 1% of these costs. Thus, users no longer have to "animate" the screen to find out about incoming notifications, look at the clock or the weather widget.
Another notable interface innovation is the expansion of the Galaxy S7 Edge icon bar (it will also be received by the Galaxy S6 Edge with an upcoming update). An additional area has appeared here with the ability to place labels. Swiping from the edge to the center of the screen will now open an additional 550px wide area that can be filled with icons of tools (compass, flashlight, ruler), news aggregators and other user-needed elements. And TouchWiz now has a whole new " Task bar", which will allow you to program macros. With it, you can, for example, "Send text to Contact X", or "Turn on the camera in selfie mode", well, and so on.
Perhaps these are all the innovations that have so far been found in the latest version of the interface. Owners Galaxy smartphones 2015 release may consider them insignificant, but users of Android devices 2014 - Galaxy S5, Note 4 and Note Edge- will certainly notice a more radical change after receiving an operating system update to Marshmallow on their smartphones! I want to make a reservation right away that this material describes the menu and features of the S7/S7 EDGE, while the S6/S6 EDGE and other models of 2015 with an update to Android 6 will not receive all the features described below. Most of them, but some little things may differ. Therefore, keep this in mind when you read the text and shift it to what will be on older models. Having made this reservation, I propose to start considering TouchWiz 2016.

We saw the first change in Samsung's ideology regarding TouchWiz last year, for the Galaxy S6/S6 EDGE, the company simplified the shell as much as possible, making it close to pure Android. Moreover, this experience turned out to be so successful that it was transferred to the rest of the line, consistently refusing to install additional and often unnecessary programs. Out of the box, you get almost pure Android with a number of useful changes and features that will come to devices from other companies later, such as multi-window mode, window resizing and other features. All this is expected in devices from other manufacturers with the advent of new version Android rather borrowed Google from Samsung with the permission of the latter.

The first thing you notice is the conciseness of the menu, it was limited to one screen. That is, out of the box you get a device in which you do not need to dig for a long time and look for the necessary functions, they are all concentrated on one screen, and this is not bad. Previously, all programs from Google were hidden in one folder, now they did the same with software from Samsung, and some applications that were considered system ones were simply abandoned. If you look for a music player in pre-installed applications, then you will be disappointed, it can be downloaded from Samsung App Store. But the program for music is Play Music. There are several reasons for this, the secondary is that Samsung receives part of the money from subscribing to this service. The primary one is that it was decided by a strong-willed decision to get rid of programs that duplicate their capabilities. This is precisely the simplification that makes the use of the device more understandable, you do not need to look into different software, everything is in front of your eyes. For those who are nostalgic for the missing apps, they were left in the Samsung store, the download is free, so everyone wins.

Once again, the drop-down curtain and the icons in it have been redesigned; in photographs and screenshots, the color of the curtain has always irritated me, some kind of pale and unpleasant. In life, everything is exactly the opposite, it does not irritate or distract, it allows you to quickly find the desired icon. The main task in the company was considered not just to simplify the menu, but to work with colors, fonts, which visually creates a feeling of lightness and simplicity. Looking ahead, I will say that it turned out to the fullest.

The ideology of the apparatus, in addition to simplicity, includes the fact that in individual applications all additional software is taken out. For example, you can download gift applications from the appropriate section, but this will already be your choice, the company does not impose it on you. By limiting the number of installed apps for partners, Samsung has simultaneously raised the cost of such an installation for them. Without losing money, the company has made life easier for users, also taking a big step forward in that now any such application can be deleted, there are no programs that are tightly entered that are not system ones.

The main settings menu uses color codes for different items, you can add your own shortcuts to what you use all the time at the top of the list. Navigation does not cause problems, everything has become as simplified and understandable as possible.

In the blind, they left the ability to connect to other devices with one touch, but in the menu they added the ability to turn off this item, if you do not need it, then you are free to remove it. Interestingly, the S Finder has disappeared from the curtain, it is believed that Google Now, which can search the phone's memory and the network, does its job better. It is also the elimination of identical entities.

How do notifications open on the lock screen? When clicked, they redirect you to the respective application. If a screen lock is set, for example, to a fingerprint, then you receive a warning that you need to press the center key - touch, and the phone opens the desired item again. Everything has become much clearer and simpler than it used to be. If you do not need a notification, then you can simply swipe it to the side.

It is curious that it became possible to add all program shortcuts to the main screen, then you do not need to enter the menu. Some may like this kind of work, but most, I'm sure, would prefer to live the old fashioned way.

Now let's take a look at a few programs that are new to these phones, starting with Galaxy Care. This is an interactive guide that allows you not only to view answers to frequently asked questions about phone and software problems, but also to get very specific answers. One of the utilities checks the hardware of the phone, various sensors and shows whether they work correctly or not. The fact that the manufacturer gives the user such an opportunity is not bad in itself, it is an easy way to find out what is wrong with your device.

You can write to support, both by mail and by chat (depending on the country), this is fast and up-to-date support, there are also various tips and tutorials. In my opinion, evolution in this direction is very important, as it removes many questions about whether your device works correctly or incorrectly and what happens to it. It also facilitates the work of the service center.

You can also find Galaxy Labs on the menu, which adds experimental features that can become standard or disappear altogether, the company evaluates what people like and what they use. You can rate each feature with a smile whether you like it or not. There are exactly two such functions in these devices - voice dialing while holding the "Home" key, as well as the ability to display all menu icons on desktops when the "Applications" section itself disappears (similar to Sony phones).

From Note line all phones with a diagonal of more than 5 inches now have the ability to change the screen size, make it more convenient. Also, you can not only change the screen size, but divide it into parts and work in two windows at once, copying information from one part of the window to another, for example, an address from a browser to a messenger. This is convenient, and the function is easily mastered by everyone who needs it.

For one-handed operation, you can turn on the change of the dialer, the numbers will adjust to your fingers and grip. Window sizes can also be changed. But this is almost never necessary, since it is convenient to work on such devices with one hand, even if it is small.

IN Samsung phones There have always been a lot of small, but convenient chips that are perceived as nonsense, but become indispensable in everyday use. For example, it can be a vibration when you pick up the phone, it notifies you that you have missed events. Now you can still customize the indicator light, set the refresh rate so as not to miss important events.

As before, you can take a screenshot by moving the screen, but in the settings you can also specify that a pop-up menu immediately appear. From it, you can edit the screen, for example, crop it, immediately send it to another program, or take an endless screenshot when the screen starts scrolling down, gluing each part into one file. It is very comfortable.

Just a few words about the capabilities of AMOLED screens and the Always On function. You can choose certain pictures (preset, color) that will always be displayed on the screen of your device, including reminders of events, time. You can choose the type of clock, in the themes you can customize this screen. This is a very interesting feature that distinguishes the new generation of phones, no one has full-screen standby pictures, since the displays do not allow this, they have too high power consumption.

Of the curious features that surprised me, the ability to set up an automatic reboot of the phone according to a schedule (time, day of the week). Apparently, people asked for this feature and it was added.

At the same time, many features familiar from the S6 and subsequent devices have remained, they have not changed in any way. Let's go through the main points to understand how TouchWiz 2016 with Android 6 differs from other devices on the market.

Themes. You can download themes that will change your device beyond recognition, every element is subject to editing, from the idle screen and Always On to the icons in the menu and messages. What is little known is that you can download the SDK to create themes, and then you can change anything and create your own themes.

Dialer and Contacts. By dialing a number, you can quickly call a contact, it is enough to correctly enter the first digits or letters of the name, surname. Matches will appear in the list. The call log has a filter by call type.

Just like on previous models, you can swipe left or right on a name to send a message or make a call, this setting can be turned off, but many liked it. In favorites, in addition to the selected contacts, there is also a list of numbers that you often use. When making a call, information related to the contact, recent SMS, mail, calendar events are shown.

In the list of contacts, you can scroll through the names by letters of the alphabet (Russian comes first, then Latin).

Messages. Some people are frustrated by the exceptionally lop-eared man that is on the menu for rooms without a user-installed icon. It has been preserved as before, although its size has greatly decreased. You can choose the design of the windows, their style, set your wallpaper. You can also get rid of this little man by choosing a different theme or your own screensavers. There are scheduled messages.

The set of features is typical, and it will be enough for ordinary users. I have no complaints about working with messages on this device.

Of the unusual functions, I note shortcuts for quickly inserting text - they work in all menus. That is, when the T9 function is activated, by typing the letter assigned to the shortcut, you will see in the list of tips not only the words, but also the recorded template. So far, this only works for the English language, but the thing is very useful and convenient.

Gallery. Sorting photos works by time, place, event or category (here the phone itself determines what is in the picture - food, landscape, portrait, and so on). There is also access to online galleries from the menu.

Calculator. In a horizontal position, scientific, in a vertical position, normal.

Watch. Alarm clock, world clock, stopwatch and timer. Familiar sections, but outwardly they are redesigned and look more interesting.

Notes. Plain text notes that are synchronized with the cloud and transferred from phone to phone. Now you can draw in notes, as well as add, as before, various multimedia files.

My files. Ordinary file manager, which also supports Google Drive. Convenient and simple, there are all possible operations with files.

Dictaphone. Apart from regular recording voices, you can turn on the Interview mode (for the first time it was in Note 4), then the microphones at the ends work in turn, the recording quality is good. There is also a voice note mode, when the text entered by voice is immediately recognized.

S Planner. The calendar has been made visually lighter and simpler. There are birthday reminders, synchronization with any network calendars, a separate task list. I like how this application is arranged, there is nothing superfluous in it and everything is clear.

S Health. The sensor on the back of the phone is used to measure heart rate, blood oxygen saturation, stress levels and emotions. You can enter a food diary, there is a database of products and their calories. You can also keep track of workouts here, plus there is a virtual trainer who can help train.

smart manager. A utility that combines several programs from different companies, but in one interface. Yes, there is Clean Master, which is able to remove application caches, various garbage. The utility for working with the battery shows how much it can stretch, you can switch between modes. In the "Security" section, it is possible to install KNOX, plus there is an antivirus from Intel. There is also a cleaning tool random access memory, which is more a tribute to the needs of users and their desires than an urgent need for Android - this is more a harmful utility than a useful one.

Microsoft Applications . The folder contains three pre-installed applications - OneDrive, OneNote, MS Office and Skype. These are applications that Microsoft pays for pre-installation, there are no differences or integration into the system. The user is given 100 GB of free space in the cloud from Microsoft for two years.

Mail. A regular email client that supports multiple accounts, HTML-layout. There is nothing unusual here, as well as advantages over the GMail client. Outwardly, they became very similar.

Settings. A set of settings familiar to Galaxy S, I will not list everything, I will give the main screens, of which everything is clear and so.

Application smart switch, which allows you to transfer data from iPhone and other devices, has become part of the system, now your data from iOS / Android can be quickly and painlessly transferred to Galaxy. I talked about this application and its capabilities in detail in the video.

Android is an open source system. source code. This means that once Google creates it, it also shares it with other software developers, who can do whatever they want with it. An example of this would be a custom touchwiz shell, which has been the subject of heated debate for many years - not all people are her fans. If you wish to remove TouchWiz from your phone, we will give you several options to help you with this, whether you are a regular user or an Android expert.

What is Touch Wiz?

All Samsung smartphones have a proprietary home interface called TouchWiz. Starting with a withdrawn model Galaxy Note 7, the new Grace UX interface was introduced. With the update of Samsung-devices to android versions Nougat this new design has been expanded. The interface has undergone some changes, including the name (from TouchWiz to Samsung Experience), as you can see in Galaxy flagship S8. However, not all users like this new user interface. If you own a Samsung smartphone but have not found a common language with its interface, we will help you part with it.

Disabling TouchWiz Apps (Non-Rooted)

The steps below will not completely remove TouchWiz from your device, but they will save it from various annoying updates that constantly request pre-installed applications and which constantly “eat up” internal memory devices. You can get rid of notifications and apps that were pre-installed by Samsung. To get started, get rid of the shortcut and widget, but to actually stop the application, go to the "Application Manager", find the application you need and click on it.

When you enter the application, follow these steps:

  • deselect the "Show notifications" option;
  • clear the cache;
  • delete data;
  • click on the "Disable" icon.

Now the application will only be in sleep mode, plus it will not be updated and will be at its original size. If you want to re-enable it, open the "App Manager" and in the "Disabled" section you will see all the applications that you have disabled before.

Installing a third-party launcher instead of TouchWiz

This is the most drastic change you can make without rooting your device. If you don't like the icons or the high contrast background of Touchwiz, you can always change appearance to make your Android user experience more palatable.

With a third-party launcher, you will be able to change the appearance of your desktop and icons. To do this, go to Google Play Store and download one of the many launchers available, the most popular of which are Nova, Apex and Google Now.

After you open the launcher you installed for the first time, your smartphone will ask you which launcher you would like to use. Select the one you recently installed and click on the "Always" icon. If for some reason you want to switch back to TouchWiz, go to Settings>Default Apps>Home Screen, then select your launcher and hit the home button.

Uninstalling TouchWiz: Installing AOSP ROM and Getting Root Rights

If you wish to completely remove the TouchWiz interface from your device, your only option is to install a new custom firmware (ROM). Doing so will void your device's warranty, as the Knox counter will reset to zero.

To flash your Samsung smartphone, you will definitely need special program Odin. In addition, before flashing, you must install a software called Custom Recovery, and then install a new custom ROM firmware from it. Some of these firmware include root-rights initially, while others may not have such rights.

The most common Custom Recovery option for Samsung is TWRP. To install it, you will need the correct file for your phone model (you can download it from the official TWRP page). To install Recovery using Odin, you will need a .tar file.

When Custom Recovery is ready, you can start searching for a ROM without TouchWiz items. By the way, if you own a little English language, you should take a look at the xda-developers.com forum, where you can find a lot of custom firmware based on pure android(AOSP). You should also find out how often such firmware is updated, and read the comments of the members of the forum. If you don't know where to start, then Lineage OS might be the way to go.

Do you like the TouchWiz interface? If not, what changes have you made to make it better? Tell us about it in the comments.
