The Chinese company Huawei started 2017 very strongly, during the first two quarters it almost completely updated all of its main Huawei and Honor lines. First of all, the top segment was updated with the advent of the new flagship P10, but it didn’t take long for announcements on the mid-budget market, since the new Honor 6c saw the light of day in April.

I saw it, but I wasn't surprised. The novelty was intended to replace last year's Honor 5c, but for unknown reasons it was inferior to it in almost everything, except for the price, which was unreasonably high. In the conditions of rather tough competition, the novelty was clearly losing, the company was well aware of this and did not find anything better than to renew the line in six months and release Honor 6c pro.

But today we will not talk about her, and not even about comparing the two versions. Ironically, now the pro version is quite difficult to find on store shelves, while the 6c is quite common at a very reasonable price of ten thousand rubles. In today's article, we will try to take a closer look at Honor 6c from the point of view of new realities and understand the relevance of this proposal today. We present you our small review Honor 6c, let's take a look at the specifications and packaging and draw conclusions.

The phone comes in a beautiful turquoise package, but the package bundle is quite standard. In addition to the device itself in the box, we also found: Charger, USB cable, user manual and a paper clip to remove the SIM card tray.

The specifications of the smartphone are as follows:

  • Single-chip system: processor - Qualcomm Snapdragon 435, 8 cores Cortex-A53, clock frequency - 4 × 1.4 GHz, 4 × 1.1 GHz, graphics accelerator - Adreno 505;
  • Operating system: Android 6.0 plus proprietary shell EMUI 4.1;
  • Display: 5-inch IPS screen with a resolution of 1280 × 720 and a pixel density of 294 ppi;
  • Memory: RAM - 3 GB, internal memory - 32 GB, microSD support up to 128 GB;
  • Communication: networks: GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850/900/1800/1900 MHz), WCDMA/HSPA+ (850/900/1900/2100 MHz), LTE Cat.4 FDD (B1/3/7/8/20) , TD (B38); support for Nano-SIM (2 pcs.), Wi-Fi 802.11b / g / n (2.4 GHz), Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, A-GPS, Glonass, BDS;
  • Cameras: 13 MP main camera with autofocus, f/2.2 aperture, video recording - 1080p; front-camera 5 MP, aperture f/2.2, fixed focus;
  • Battery: 3020 mAh, non-removable;
  • Dimensions: 144×70×7.6 mm, weight 138 g.

As we see from technical specifications, Honor 6c is only a stretch approaching the mid-budget level, and the price of 14,000 rubles at the start of sales was clearly too high for it. If NFC were among its communications, then the smartphone would look much more attractive. And so this device is distinguished from its predecessor only by large amounts of memory - 32 GB of main memory and 3 GB of RAM, otherwise the new 6s is inferior to its older version.

Design

Honor 6c comes in three colors - gold, silver and gray. We came across a gray smartphone, and, having twisted it a little in our hands, let's say that the first impression was “very good”, but over time, the novelty effect disappears and one gets the feeling that, in fact, Honor does not stand out for anything special. against its competitors from the middle segment.

The smartphone is made in a combination of plastic and metal, or rather, the phone itself is mostly plastic, but the back cover, apparently, is made of honest hardware. It is convenient to hold the phone in your hands, the metal gives a feeling of pleasant coolness, and at the same time, the device practically does not slip and does not hold together with strong pressure. But although the tactile sensations pleased, the completely unremarkable design haunts: 6c turned out to be completely faceless, a gray mass among many similar smartphones. The metal cover is butt-fitted to the plastic elements without any frills, and for some reason the camera is painted in the color of the body and practically does not stand out. In addition, if taken as a whole, there are absolutely no elements that would please the eye. From the point of view of design and design, Honor 5c looked much more interesting.

The phone has very wide bezels for its class. On the sides, this is not very noticeable, but as for the bottom frame, this is just the apogee of the inappropriate use of space. In more budget Honor models, this can still be forgiven, but in the middle class, if you do not make mechanical navigation buttons, spending so much free space on a simple “Honor” inscription is the height of waste.

The rest of the function keys and connectors are in their places. On the front panel, in addition to the already announced inscription, you can traditionally find a speaker, a proximity sensor and a front camera, on back cover placed the main camera, LED flash and a round fingerprint scanner, which, by the way, works out pretty well. On the sides we have: on the right - the lock key, the volume control, on the left - the SIM card tray. And finally, at the bottom - the main speaker, microUSB port, and at the top - an auxiliary microphone and a headphone jack. As they say, nothing unusual, everything is standard.

In general, one could argue for a long time on why the smartphone turned out to be so unremarkable against the background of its predecessor and competitors. But we don’t see much point in this, perhaps the developers this time weren’t given money for the original design, perhaps they were running out of time and had to put “what is” into production, it doesn’t matter. As they say, the taste and color ... Our opinion, of course, does not pretend to be a standard of taste, and perhaps someone will like this design. So we work with what we have and move on.

Display

The screen module Honor 6c is equipped with a high-quality IPS matrix and has a resolution of 1280 × 720 with a pixel density of 294 ppi with a diagonal of five inches. These are very, very good indicators, but (attention!) - for budget segment. Compared to competitors Huawei Honor 6c loses a lot, as most of them have long since switched to FullHD displays with a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels. However, low resolution is one of the few disadvantages of this model. You can also highlight only the indistinct black color that most IPS matrices sin, otherwise we really liked this display, so let's move on, perhaps, to the pluses of the 6c screen.

Immediately I would like to note the excellent screen brightness, which is approximately 450 cd/m 2 , and a good anti-reflective coating. Even in very bright sunlight, the display remains quite readable, and the colors do not lose saturation. As for the colors themselves, they are moderately bright, close to natural shades. The screen does not flicker, the color reproduction is correct. The color temperature is shifted towards cold shades, but if desired, the user can fine-tune it for themselves using a special built-in utility.

White color is as close as possible to real white, does not turn yellow or violet. The contrast of the smartphone is at good level. Viewing angles are also very good, the colors do not fade or invert even when turning the phone very sharply, only the whites lose some of their quality.

The screen is covered with a 2.5D Gorilla Glass 3rd generation tempered protective glass. The phone is quite resistant to minor scratches, so if you use the device carefully, you can do without a film or additional protective glass. Also, the smartphone is equipped with a very high-quality oleophobic coating. The finger glides across the screen easily, fingerprints are almost invisible and can be easily removed with a tissue. There is no air gap between the matrix and the glass, which has a positive effect on both the phone's sensitivity and color reproduction.

Summing up the intermediate result, we can say that the screen of Honor 6c is made at a very good level and, so to speak, is not at all budgetary. However, the low resolution by modern standards completely spoils everything. If the screen had more a high resolution, there would be no complaints about him at all. And so the phone loses precisely in the point that the mass consumer first of all pays attention to when evaluating the display of the device. It turned out badly, gentlemen engineers / marketers.

Sound

Honor 6c sounds very boring and mundane. Huawei smartphones, in principle, have never been distinguished by special sound quality in the budget and mid-budget segment, but in this case somehow things didn't work at all.

When playing, the sound, although quite clear, is completely flat, all tones are shifted towards high frequencies, while neither mids nor basses are completely noticeable. There is no talk of transmitting the entire sound range even when listening through headphones, while the sound is quite loud only when the control slider is moved almost completely to the right.

It’s a pity that you can’t check the sound of Huawei Honor 6c in AnTuTu, for some reason it seems that it would show very low results. Of the advantages of a smartphone, only the presence of FM radio and karaoke mode can be distinguished.

cameras

The main camera of Honor 6c has a 13-megapixel sensor and f/2.2 aperture, while it is additionally equipped with a single-color LED flash and phase detection autofocus. The flash works well, and, despite its monotony, the pictures are well lit, but not overexposed. However, we immediately find a significant drawback: this camera does not have a stabilization function when taking photos, so pictures in motion often turn out to be blurry.

In daylight conditions, the camera performs quite well. The sharpness of the pictures is at a fairly high level, the color reproduction is close to natural, the detailing is normal both in the near and in the far plans. The camera does a good job of shooting panoramas and long shots. Macro photography and background blur are a little worse, but still the quality is quite acceptable. But as for the photo at night, this could be described with a tougher word than just “bad”. The image immediately loses its sharpness, and a huge amount of digital noise appears in the picture. At the same time, it is worth noting that the “noise reduction” does a good job and often saves photos, sacrificing only a little additional clarity, without turning the photo into frank soap.

The program for shooting is traditionally equipped with many different modes and embellishments, among which there are already beloved HDR and “delicious food”. The user can also manually set the white balance, focus and exposure, which will undoubtedly please fans of experimenting with the camera. If we compare Huawei Honor 6c with more top-end representatives of the company, then, of course, the feature set of this model will seem very limited. On the other hand, the quality of the 6c camera is not high enough to require all these options. In our opinion, in this case, a fairly good balance has been struck between opportunities and necessity.

The Honor 6c camera can record video in FullHD format at 30 frames per second. But the video quality itself leaves much to be desired. Even in fairly bright lighting, digital noise creeps in, detail is pretty mediocre, and colors look a bit faded. There is an electronic stabilization function, but it does not help at all to shoot on the go, the picture still remains twitchy and torn. The sound is also not encouraging: even with a light wind, whistling and other unpleasant sounds are heard. extraneous sounds, the presence of a special microphone does not seem to affect the situation at all. In general, we would prefer using the 6s to take pictures rather than shoot video.

The smartphone is also equipped with a front camera of 5 megapixels and f / 2.2 aperture. The focus of the camera is fixed, there is no flash of its own. The front camera, in fact, has the same functions as the main one, but the quality of shooting, for obvious reasons, is much worse. In general, if you are not a pretentious selfie lover, then the capabilities of the front camera will suit you perfectly. If you can’t even imagine your life without a selfie, then in order to avoid disappointment and a nervous tick, you better bypass 6s.

We invite you to evaluate examples of photos of Huawei Honor 6c and draw your own conclusions.

Memory and memory card

It doesn't matter which Honor 6s you have - silver, gold or gray, you will have 3 gigabytes of RAM and 32 gigabytes of permanent memory in any case. This is perhaps the only feature that compares favorably with its predecessor, which had only 2 and 16 gigabytes of memory, respectively.

Today, 2 gigabytes of RAM is really not enough for the middle segment of the market, so the desire of developers to increase this parameter is quite understandable. As for the flash drive, there is not much difference between 16 and 32 gigabytes of memory, in our opinion, and you will have to use a memory card anyway. But this, of course, is all very subjective, and, quite possibly, there will be people who have enough of such a volume with their heads.

The situation with memory cards is also quite standard. The maximum size of a microSD card that a smartphone supports is 128 gigabytes. At the same time, it is worth bearing in mind the fact that the 6c card tray is combined, and you will not be able to use a memory card simultaneously with two SIM cards.

In general, we have no complaints about the memory of Honor 6c. Both the RAM and flash memory of the phone work quite fast, everything is recorded and loaded at a decent speed. So let's move on.

Connection

Honor 6c supports most modern communication formats, including:

  • GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850/900/1800/1900 MHz);
  • WCDMA/HSPA+ (850/900/1900/2100 MHz);
  • LTE Cat.4 FDD (B1/3/7/8/20), TD (B38).

In addition, the smartphone is equipped with modules Wi-Fi 802.11b / g / n (2.4 GHz) and Bluetooth 4.1.

Huawei Honor 6c is an LTE DUAL SIM smartphone, but it does not support the now popular NFC format. Also among the obvious disadvantages of the phone is a rather low Wi-Fi speed and support for not all navigation satellites, including only GPS, A-GPS, Glonass and BDS.

The audibility of the interlocutor this phone pretty good, but not perfect. The smartphone confidently catches the network outside the city, there are no sudden loss of connection and speech interruptions.

Battery life and performance

Honor 6c is equipped with an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor built on Cortex A-53 cores with a cluster frequency of 4 × 1.4 GHz and 4 × 1.1 GHz. This is a pretty good processor, which today is quite enough for the needs of the operating system and the performance of most consumer tasks, including Internet surfing, watching videos, and simple games. In the Antutu benchmark, Huawei Honor 6c gives an average of 45,000 points, which is a very good result.

However, again, there is one significant "but". The 435th dragon is not a mid-range processor, this chipset is positioned by the manufacturer as a solution below the average level. Therefore, it is not clear that this chip was forgotten in the phone of the mid-budget segment. The same Honor 5c was once equipped with HiSilicon Kirin 650, which was significantly more productive and corresponded to its class. Why this time Huawei decided to save money in this way is completely incomprehensible.

To prove our words, we bring to your attention comparison table processors in current benchmarks.

Also, this single-chip system is equipped with an Adreno 505 video accelerator, which can only be called a gaming accelerator. Yes, you can play most games on it. modern games, but only in the lightest projects will it be possible to get an acceptable frame rate at high settings. In more complex games, even with a resolution of 1280x720, the settings will have to be reduced to medium or even low.

But in terms of autonomy, Huawei Honor 6c is good. The smartphone is equipped non-removable battery with a capacity of 3020 milliamp-hours and holds a charge for a really long time. To be honest, we did not expect such abilities from a smartphone at all and were very pleasantly surprised. Depending on the modes, you can expect the following results from 6s: in reading mode - 16 hours 30 minutes, in video viewing mode - 12 hours, in game mode - 6 hours 30 minutes. Much of the credit for this, of course, belongs to the economical processor, but if you are looking for a phone with great autonomy, then you should pay attention to Honor 6c.

Software platform

In the characteristics of Huawei Honor 6s it appears operating system Android version 6.0 and proprietary shell EMUI 4.1. Unfortunately, after the release of the pro version of the smartphone, the owners of the old 6s can no longer count on updating their phones to new versions of the operating system over the air.

In general, the proprietary shell pre-installed in this smartphone, is the same as that of other Huawei products. In particular, in this version there is a notification curtain already familiar to us: by swiping your finger from bottom to top on the locked screen, you can call up a submenu where there is a flashlight, a voice recorder, a calculator, and the like. useful applications. Using the fingerprint scanner, you can not only unlock your phone, but also flip through music tracks, answer calls, turn off the alarm and view photos. In short, Huawei's branded shell, as always, is very convenient and functional.

conclusions

The release date of Huawei Honor 6c is April 2017, while Honor 6c pro was released in October of the same year. This indicates nothing more than that Huawei realized its mistakes and decided to correct the situation as quickly as possible. Yes, for sure the starting price for a smartphone was very high, and 14,000 rubles is a lot for such a phone. But what if you now find such a device in a store for ten or even nine thousand rubles?

Well, this article is written for this: you can study the information provided and draw your own conclusions. We believe that 6s is definitely worth that kind of money, and when you see such a phone in a store, it’s completely shameless to pay attention to it. Undoubtedly, the device, as of today, has many shortcomings: it is an outdated operating system, a low screen resolution, and a very ordinary, if not weak, camera. But on the other hand, for only nine or ten thousand rubles you can get a smartphone with excellent autonomy, while having high strength, high-quality IPS matrix and good technical characteristics.

A humble representative of a legendary family

In the new season, Huawei not only updated the Honor 5X model, which is pleasant in all respects, replacing it with the same good Honor 6X, but also made a replacement in the lower-level segment. Was released new model Honor 6C, replacing last year's Honor 5C. And if the 6X has become a very worthy successor to its predecessor, is everything so obvious in the Honor family in a lower price range?

Appearance and usability

The hero of the review has a completely fine body at first glance. It has a thin profile, rounded corners, sloping sidewalls. The case is even partly metal. The design as a whole is neat and does not cause visual rejection.

However, if you remember what design his predecessor had Huawei Honor 5C, then you understand that Huawei is starting to cheat a little, allowing itself not to strain as much as before. Most likely, with the idea that "they will buy it anyway."

Honor 5C also used a metal plate soldered into plastic in the lid, but it was done with imagination. There, the artists were not too lazy to take care of the smooth rounded corners of the metal plate to achieve symmetry with the corners of the case itself, and the unusual shape of the rim around the camera, and the polishing of the metal surface, which made the metal look much more interesting than a simple smooth one. The plastic inserts around the metal were made in the form of a single frame with unusual smooth curves of a complex, sometimes concave shape, barely noticeable longitudinal stripes were applied to it. It seems that all these are trifles, but they decorate the appearance, and the combination of such trifles makes the design as a whole richer.

Honor 5C:

A year has passed, and the same artists have allowed themselves to simplify the design of the subsequent product as much as possible: here they simply butted the straight edges of the plastic part with the metal one, and that's it. And why Chinese designers have now begun to paint over the camera glass everywhere with paint is generally a separate mystery. After all, it doesn’t seem to anyone that it’s more beautiful, but the Chinese stubbornly use this move, and, by the way, not only in Huawei.

Honor 6C:

In general, the design has become simpler and uglier, although if you do not compare it with its predecessor, then it seems that you can live with this. The trend of simplification and visual cheapening for the same price is not encouraging.

As already mentioned, the Honor 6C case is not entirely made of metal, the end parts are completely plastic, that is, these are not inserts on the rear panel, but the whole parts of the case in which all interface connectors are installed, holes are made for speaker grilles and microphones. Accordingly, the corners of the case are also made of plastic, and not of metal, which forms only the middle part of the back cover.

On the back side, as usual, you can find a camera with a flash, as well as a quite high-quality fingerprint scanner that works clearly and without failures. The flash, though single, but shines quite brightly. The camera module protrudes beyond the surface, so when working with a smartphone lying on the table, it sways when you touch the screen. This makes working with a smartphone in a lying position uncomfortable, not to mention the fact that it is simply impossible to unlock the device in this position using a fingerprint sensor, because the scanner is also located on the back of the case.

The matte surfaces of the back of the case and the sides are not easily soiled and not particularly slippery. Given the small size, thin profile and light weight, the smartphone is quite comfortable to hold in your hand or carry in your pockets, for modern realities such a smartphone can be called almost miniature.

There are no hardware touch buttons on the front panel, and many will probably not like the fact that quite large space nothing is occupied under the screen, but is as much as 17 mm of useless empty surface. If there are no buttons under the screen, then it would be worth reducing this part of the case.

Sensors and a front camera peephole without its own flash are habitually installed above the screen. There is also an LED event indicator, which pleases.

The main speaker is brought to the bottom end, which is also good, because it does not overlap with the surface when the smartphone is on the table. Two rows of holes, as usual, do not at all indicate the presence of stereo speakers - the sound comes out only through one segment, the right one. It is possible that a conversational microphone is hidden behind the second row of holes, but it clearly does not require as many as five holes. And it's quite frustrating that the Honor 6C's Micro-USB connector does not support connection external devices in USB OTG mode.

At the top end there is a headphone jack (3.5 mm), as well as an auxiliary microphone hole.

Cards are inserted into the side slot on the left, nothing unexpected here: the notorious hybrid slot is designed for two Nano-SIM cards, one of which can be replaced with a card microSD memory. Hot swapping of cards is supported.

The buttons on the opposite side face are large, they protrude noticeably so that they can be easily groped blindly, but they have, perhaps, too short a stroke. In general, it is worth noting that Honor 6C is a smartphone for small hands: everything is small in it, from buttons to fonts on the screen. Fonts, of course, can be made larger, but then constant abbreviations of the last words in the lines will begin to appear in the interface.

Honor 6C is available in three familiar colors: light silver, gold and dark gray. In this regard, again, Huawei designers do not present any surprises, although it would be quite possible to start playing with colors in the affordable segment, where users also sometimes like variety.

Screen

Honor 6C is equipped with an IPS display, covered with 2.5D-glass with sloping edges. The physical dimensions of the screen are 62×110 mm with a diagonal of 5 inches. The resolution is 1280×720, the dot density is about 293 ppi. The frame around the screen has a total width of about 3.5 mm on the sides, 17 mm on the bottom, and 15 mm on the top, for such a small five-inch device these are too wide frames, although everything is done so that they do not look like that on the sides.

The display brightness can be adjusted manually or set to automatic settings based on the operation of the ambient light sensor. The AnTuTu test diagnoses support for 10 simultaneous multitouch touches.

A detailed examination using measuring instruments was carried out by the editor of the sections "Monitors" and "Projectors and TV" Alexey Kudryavtsev. Here is his expert opinion on the screen of the test sample.

The front surface of the screen is made in the form of a glass plate with a mirror-smooth surface, resistant to scratches. Judging by the reflection of objects, the anti-glare properties of the screen are better than the screen of the Google Nexus 7 (2013) (hereinafter simply Nexus 7). For clarity, here is a photo in which a white surface is reflected in the off screens (on the left is Nexus 7, on the right is Honor 6C, then they can be distinguished by size):

The screen of Honor 6C is darker (brightness in photos is 104 versus 119 for Nexus 7). The doubling of reflected objects in the screen of Honor 6C is very weak, which indicates that there is no air gap between the layers of the screen (more specifically, between the outer glass and the surface of the LCD matrix) (OGS type screen - One Glass Solution). Due to the smaller number of borders (glass/air type) with very different refractive indices, such screens look better in conditions of intense external illumination, but their repair in case of cracked external glass is much more expensive, since the entire screen has to be changed. On the outer surface of the screen there is a special oleophobic (grease-repellent) coating, which is even better in efficiency than the Nexus 7, so fingerprints are removed much more easily, and appear at a slower rate than in the case of ordinary glass.

When manually controlling brightness and when outputting a white field full screen the maximum brightness value was about 450 cd / m², the minimum - 5 cd / m². The maximum brightness is high, which means that, given the excellent anti-reflective properties, readability even on a sunny day outdoors should be at a good level. In complete darkness, the brightness can be reduced to a comfortable value. In the presence of automatic brightness control by light sensor (it is located to the right of the front speaker slot). IN automatic mode as the ambient light conditions change, the brightness of the screen both increases and decreases. The operation of this function depends on the position of the brightness control, with which the user can try to set the desired brightness level under the current conditions. If you do not intervene, then in complete darkness, the auto-brightness function reduces the brightness to 5 cd / m² (too dark), in an artificially lit office (about 550 lux) sets it to 190 cd / m² (normal), in a very bright environment (corresponding to lighting on a clear day outdoors, but without direct sunlight - 20,000 lux or a little more) increases to 450 cd / m² (to the maximum, which is what you need). We weren't quite happy with the result, so in total darkness we moved the slider slightly to the right, and for the three conditions above, we got the following values: 16, 190 and 450 cd/m² (suitable values). It turns out that the auto-brightness function works adequately and to some extent allows the user to customize their work to individual requirements. Significant backlight modulation appears only at the lowest brightness level, but its frequency is high, about 2.5 kHz, so there is no flickering of the screen visible to the eye under any circumstances.

This smartphone uses an IPS type matrix. Micrographs show a typical IPS sub-pixel structure:

For comparison, you can see the gallery of microphotographs of screens used in mobile technology.

The screen has good viewing angles without significant color shift even at large deviations of the gaze from the perpendicular to the screen and without inverting shades. For comparison, here are photos in which the same images are displayed on the screens of Honor 6C and Nexus 7, while the brightness of the screens was initially set to about 200 cd / m², and the color balance on the camera was forcibly switched to 6500 K.

White field perpendicular to the screens:

Note the good uniformity of brightness and color tone of the white field.

And a test picture:

The colors on the screen of Honor 6C are clearly oversaturated, and the color balance of the screens is slightly different.

Now at an angle of about 45 degrees to the plane and to the side of the screen:

It can be seen that the colors have not changed much on both screens, but on the Honor 6C, the contrast has decreased to a greater extent due to strong black highlighting.

And the white box:

The brightness at an angle of the screens has decreased (at least 5 times, based on the difference in shutter speed), but the Honor 6C screen is still a little darker. The black field, when deviated diagonally, is highlighted strongly and acquires a reddish or purple hue. The photos below demonstrate this (the brightness of the white areas in the direction perpendicular to the plane of the screens is the same!):

And from another angle:

When viewed perpendicularly, the uniformity of the black field is poor:

Contrast (approximately in the center of the screen) is normal - about 850:1. The response time for the black-white-black transition is 30ms (18ms on + 12ms off). The transition between 25% and 75% grayscale (according to the numerical value of the color) and back takes a total of 44 ms. The gamma curve constructed from 32 points with an equal interval according to the numerical value of the shade of gray did not reveal a blockage either in the highlights or in the shadows. The exponent of the approximating power function is 1.97, which is lower than the standard value of 2.2, however, in this case, this value does not indicate anything:

This device has an aggressive dynamic adjustment of the brightness of the backlight in accordance with the nature of the displayed image - the brightness of the backlight decreases on average dark images. As a result, the resulting dependence of brightness on hue (gamma curve) does not correspond to the gamma curve of a static image, since the measurements were carried out with sequential grayscale output almost on the entire screen. For this reason, we carried out a number of tests - determining contrast and response time, comparing black flare at angles - we carried out (however, as always) when displaying special patterns with a constant average brightness, and not monochromatic fields in full screen. In general, such a non-switchable brightness correction does nothing but harm, since a constant change in screen brightness can at least cause some discomfort, reduce the visibility of gradations in the shadows in the case of dark images and the readability of the screen in bright light, since the brightness of the backlight is not the brightest on average. is underestimated, but it is not in excess.

The color gamut is noticeably wider than sRGB:

Let's look at the spectra:

We have already seen this in the case of, for example, the Sony Xperia Z2 and others. mobile devices. Sony points out that these screens use LEDs with a blue emitter and green and red phosphors (usually a blue emitter and a yellow phosphor), which, in combination with special matrix filters, allow for a wide color gamut. Yes, and in the red phosphor, apparently, the so-called quantum dots are used. For a consumer device, a wide color gamut is not an advantage, but a significant drawback, because as a result, the colors of images - drawings, photos and films - oriented to the sRGB space (and the vast majority of them) have an unnatural saturation. This is especially noticeable on recognizable shades, such as skin tones. The result is shown in the photo above.

The balance of shades on the gray scale is not the worst, since the color temperature is not very much above the standard 6500 K, and the deviation from the black body spectrum (ΔE) is below 10, which is considered an acceptable indicator for a consumer device. At the same time, the color temperature and ΔE change little from shade to shade - this has a positive effect on the visual assessment of color balance. (The darkest areas of the gray scale can be ignored, since the color balance does not matter much there, and the measurement error of color characteristics at low brightness is large.)

This device has the ability to correct the color balance by adjusting the hue on the color wheel.

Curves in the charts above Without corr. correspond to the results without any color balance correction, and the curves Corr.— data obtained after shifting the point to the position indicated in the image above. It can be seen that the change in balance corresponds to the expected result, since the color temperature has approached the standard value. There is some benefit from such a correction, besides, the brightness decreased by less than 6%. Note that given function implemented in the version rather for show, since there is no numerical reflection of the correction and there is no field for measuring the color balance.

To summarize: the screen has a fairly high maximum brightness and has excellent anti-glare properties, so the device can be used outdoors without any problems even on a sunny summer day. In complete darkness, the brightness can be lowered to a comfortable level. It is permissible to use the mode with automatic brightness adjustment, which works adequately. Also, the advantages of the screen include an effective oleophobic coating, the absence of an air gap in the layers of the screen and flicker, an acceptable color balance. The disadvantages are the low stability of black to the deviation of the gaze from the perpendicular to the plane of the screen, poor uniformity of the black field, an excessively wide color gamut, as well as dynamic adjustment of the backlight brightness that cannot be switched off. Nevertheless, given the importance of performance for this particular class of device, the screen quality can be considered relatively high, although it is worth getting ready for strange and not quite natural shades in films and photographs.

Camera

The front module here has a 5 megapixel sensor and an f/2.2 lens with an 80° field of view, with a fixed focus and no flash of its own. For the selfie camera, there are all the same manual settings that are usually used in the main cameras: you can set the white balance, ISO, brightness, contrast, there is even exposure compensation. Naturally, there are many tools for retouching a portrait, there is a smile detection function, and a selfie panorama is supported. With all this, the quality of shooting is poor: the detail is low, the sensitivity of the matrix is not enough, which is why the image looks loose and dark. In addition, blur zones constantly appear. In general, even for the level of a selfie, the camera here is quite modest.

The main camera uses a 13-megapixel sensor and a lens with a maximum aperture of f / 2.2, it is equipped with fast phase detection autofocus. The flash is monochromatic, but it shines quite brightly. There is no stabilization system for photography. The settings are the same: there are adjustments to the main parameters, there are some scene modes (food, light), there is an HDR mode, as well as a selective focus function on already taken pictures. There are fewer settings here than in top smartphones Huawei, but everything you need is there, and it’s even easier to figure it out here, since there are fewer opportunities.

The camera can shoot video in a maximum resolution of Full HD @30 fps, there is an electronic stabilization function. True, it is better not to turn it on, otherwise the image becomes even more jerky, and the video sequence becomes torn, but smoothness is not added when shooting on the go. And in general, the camera copes with video shooting modestly: the detail is weak, the picture in any, even the brightest lighting, remains loose and unsightly. With the soundtrack, too, not everything is going smoothly: there are familiar distortions in the form of gurgling and echo, the noise reduction system cannot cope with wind noise.

Good field and plan sharpness.

Numbers of the nearest cars are distinguishable.

The text is worked out well, although it is a bit corroded by the program.

Good sharpness across the frame.

The camera copes with macro photography.

Good detail in medium and even distant plans.

Shooting indoors works well with the camera.

The camera turned out good. The only thing you can find fault with is the work of the noise reduction. The fact is that the noise reduction here, apparently, simply discolors the noise (removes the color component), so the grain is visible in the pictures. On the other hand, by not smearing this grain, the program manages to maintain good sharpness and detail. In general, this approach to noise suppression is much better than the budget "plasticine". Sometimes the program still reminds of its existence, as in the case of capturing text, but this is quite tolerable. As a result, we can assume that the camera will cope well with documentary shooting.

Telephone part and communications

The communication capabilities of Honor 6C cannot be called rich. Thanks to the X8 LTE modem, five LTE FDD frequency bands are supported, including 3 bands of interest to us (Band 3, 7, 20), as well as one TD LTE band. In the city limits of the Moscow region, the device behaves confidently, the quality of signal reception does not cause any complaints.

But only one Wi-Fi band (2.4 GHz) is supported, the NFC module is absent in the device at all, and the Micro-USB connector does not support connecting external devices in USB OTG mode. Such simplifications on the part of developers are even a little embarrassing.

The navigation module works with all three world systems (GPS, Glonass and Beidou). The first satellites during a cold start are detected within the first minute, but the positioning accuracy is far from ideal. The smartphone also has a magnetic compass and a step detector.

The smartphone allows both SIM-cards in 3G / 4G to work in active standby mode at the same time. That is, for example, the second SIM card can work in 3G for voice communication, even if a card from another slot is assigned for data transmission in 4G. The interface does not allow you to select a specific SIM card for voice calls and SMS in advance - only during the connection. Cards work in Dual mode SIM Dual Standby, there is only one radio modem.

Software and multimedia

OS is used as a software platform in Honor 6C android version 6.0 with its own proprietary shell EMUI 4.1 with the ability to update over the air. The branded interface is well known to fans of Huawei products, this device does not belong to the avant-garde to try out any innovations on it, so everything here is absolutely standard. All the typical EMUI highlights are in place: the notification curtain habitually greets the user with a proprietary scale with time marks, a swipe from the bottom up on the locked screen calls up an additional pop-up menu where you can find a flashlight, calculator, voice recorder, etc. Using a fingerprint, you can not only unlock screen, but also flip through tracks, photos, turn off the alarm and answer calls. Naturally, you can block and start individual applications. The fingerprint scanner, by the way, works even with wet fingers, this has been tested in practice.

To listen to melodies, you use your own familiar player with a nice interface, but without any settings. But there is a karaoke function with running text. Both in headphones and in the dynamics the device sounds average: the sound is clear, but unpretentious, sonorous, with a predominance of high frequencies, it cannot be called thick and saturated even when listening through headphones. The voice recorder demonstrates satisfactory sensitivity, the smartphone has an FM radio, but without the ability to record programs from the air.

Performance

The Honor 6C hardware platform is based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 single-chip system, made using 28-nanometer technology. This SoC includes eight 64-bit ARM Cortex-A53 cores with a frequency of up to 1.4 GHz. The GPU Adreno 505 is responsible for graphics processing. The amount of RAM is 3 GB, and the built-in flash memory is 32 GB. Initially free 21 GB of storage and 1.5 GB of RAM.

According to the test results, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 platform, as expected, turned out to be quite a bit faster than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 425/430 and at the same time significantly inferior to all other currently popular mid-range mobile platforms, such as MediaTek Helio P10, Kirin 655, and even more so Snapdragon 625, not talking about the even more powerful Snapdragon 652. In the comprehensive AnTuTu test, the Snapdragon 435 delivers only about 45K points.

That is, Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 is not an average solution, but below average. At the same time, in general, the performance of this SoC is still enough to perform basic tasks, you can even play games. Modern Kombat X slows down noticeably, some other games run quite smoothly, but in general, we are clearly not a gaming solution.

Testing in comprehensive AnTuTu and GeekBench tests:

All the results obtained by us when testing the smartphone in the most fresh versions popular benchmarks, we have summarized them in tables for convenience. Several other devices from different segments are usually added to the table, also tested on similar latest versions benchmarks (this is done only for a visual assessment of the obtained dry numbers). Unfortunately, within a single comparison, it is impossible to present the results from different versions benchmarks, so many worthy and relevant models remain “behind the scenes” due to the fact that they once passed the “obstacle course” on previous versions of test programs.

Testing the graphics subsystem in 3DMark gaming tests, GFXBenchmark and Bonsai Benchmark:

When testing in 3DMark for the highest performing smartphones, it is now possible to run the application in Unlimited mode, where the rendering resolution is fixed at 720p and VSync is disabled (due to which the speed can rise above 60 fps).

Browser cross-platform tests:

As for benchmarks for evaluating the speed of the javascript engine, you should always make allowances for the fact that the results in them depend significantly on the browser in which they are launched, so that the comparison can only be truly correct on the same OS and browsers, and this possibility is available when testing not always. In the case of Android OS, we always try to use Google Chrome.

AndroBench memory performance test results:

thermal images

Below is a thermal image rear surface obtained after 10 minutes of running a battery test in the GFXBenchmark program:

It can be seen that the heating is more localized in the upper part of the device, which apparently corresponds to the location of the SoC chip. According to the heat chamber, the maximum heating was 37 degrees (at an ambient temperature of 24 degrees), this is not very much.

Video playback

To test the "omnivorous" when playing video (including support for various codecs, containers and special features, such as subtitles), we used the most common formats, which make up the bulk of the content available on the Web. Note that for mobile devices it is important to have support for hardware video decoding at the chip level, since it is most often impossible to process modern versions using processor cores alone. Also, do not expect everything from a mobile device to decode everything, since the leadership in flexibility belongs to the PC, and no one is going to challenge it. All results are summarized in a table.

According to the test results, the test subject, as is often the case, was not equipped with all the necessary decoders that are needed to fully play most of the most common multimedia files on the network, in this case, sound ones. To successfully play them, you will have to resort to the help of a third-party player - for example, MX Player. True, it also needs to change the settings and manually install additional custom codecs, because now this player does not officially support the AC3 audio format.

Format container, video, sound MX Video Player Regular video player

1080p H.265 MKV, H.265 1920×1080, 24 fps, AC3 video plays fine, no sound video plays fine, no sound

Further testing of video playback performed Alexey Kudryavtsev.

We did not find an MHL interface, as well as Mobility DisplayPort, in this smartphone, so we had to limit ourselves to testing the output of video files on the screen of the device itself. To do this, we used a set of test files with an arrow and a rectangle moving one division per frame (see “Methodology for testing video signal playback and display devices. Version 1 (for mobile devices)”). Screenshots with a shutter speed of 1 s helped determine the nature of the output frames of video files with different parameters: the resolution varied (1280 by 720 (720p), 1920 by 1080 (1080p) and 3840 by 2160 (4K) pixels) and frame rate (24, 25, 30, 50 and 60 fps). In tests, we used the MX Player video player in Hardware mode. Test results tabulated: 720/25p

Great No 720/24p Great No

Note: If both columns Uniformity And Passes green ratings are given, this means that, most likely, when watching movies, artifacts caused by uneven interleaving and dropping frames will either not be visible at all, or their number and visibility will not affect viewing comfort. Red marks indicate possible problems with the playback of the respective files.

According to the frame output criterion, the quality of video files playback on the screen of the smartphone itself is good, since frames (or groups of frames) can (but are not required) to be displayed with more or less uniform alternation of intervals and without frame drops. When playing video files with a resolution of 1280 by 720 pixels (720p) on a smartphone screen, the image of the video file itself is displayed exactly along the border of the screen, one to one in pixels, that is, in its original resolution. The brightness range displayed on the screen corresponds to the standard range of 16-235: in the shadows, only a couple of shades merge with black, and in the highlights, all gradations are displayed.

Battery life

Fixed accumulator battery, installed in Honor 6C, has a capacity of 3020 mAh. With such a battery, with a not very productive hardware platform and a screen resolution of only 720p, the smartphone could not fail to demonstrate decent autonomy results. In real usage scenarios, with a normal average mode of operation, the hero of the review is quite capable of quietly holding out without recharging for a day and a half, although this still forces him to charge it daily.

Testing has traditionally been carried out at the usual level of power consumption without the use of power-saving features, although these are naturally available in the smartphone.

Continuous reading in the Moon + Reader program (with a standard, light theme) at the minimum comfortable brightness level (brightness was set to 100 cd / m²) with auto scrolling lasted about 16.5 hours until the battery was completely discharged, and with continuous video viewing in high quality(720p) with the same brightness level through home network Wi-Fi device operates for almost 12 hours. In the 3D game mode, the smartphone can work up to 6.5 hours, but here, of course, it should be borne in mind that such a long time is achieved due to the low screen resolution and far from the maximum settings of the games themselves.

From standard network adapter(output current 2 A 5 V), the smartphone is charged in about 2 hours and 20 minutes with a current of 1.5 A at a voltage of 5 V. Wireless charging Honor 6C does not support.

Outcome

The official start of sales of Honor 6C in Russia took place on May 12, the smartphone will cost 13 thousand rubles in Russian retail. According to the test results, we have to admit with regret that Honor in the new season not only offered a nondescript and weaker model in all respects as a replacement for the 5C, but is also going to sell it at the same price, although the level of these two products is incomparable. Honor 6C has a weaker hardware platform, uninteresting design, barely satisfactory communication capabilities. But what is really a shame, the current 5.2-inch screen with Full HD resolution was suddenly replaced here with a 5-inch display with a resolution of only 720p. It seems that Huawei itself was frightened by how interesting the 5C model it released, decided that it would compete with more expensive models in the Honor family, and hastened to replace it with a completely different one, with much more modest capabilities.

In its class, the Honor 6C smartphone may not be so bad, but it is a completely different, much lower level than the Honor 5C. For the same 13 thousand, by the way, Xiaomi is now officially selling its Redmi 4X in Russia with similar basic parameters. However, in functional details Xiaomi smartphone more interesting: it does better with video recording and, very importantly, a third higher level of autonomy, and it also supports USB OTG, and even has infrared port to emulate the remote control. And this is just offhand, and maybe there are more differences - detailed overview Xiaomi Redmi 4X is coming soon.

In this regard, only one thought comes to mind: if there is still an opportunity to purchase a 5C model, which, moreover, has now fallen in price to 11 thousand, then it is urgent to do this, because 6C certainly has not become an equivalent replacement for it in the new season.

Huawei has released an updated version of its mid-range smartphone Honor 6C with the Pro prefix. The novelty received a slightly larger diagonal display compared to the original (now it is 5.2 inches), updated EMUI 5.1 firmware based on Android 7, a processor from MediaTek, and an improved front camera. At the same time, the price of Honor 6C Pro remained at the mark of 10 thousand rubles, which is comfortable for buyers.

Huawei continues to expand the line affordable smartphones, competing with devices from Xiaomi, Meizu and other Chinese brands. Latest novelty Honor 6C Pro.

The main trump card of the device is productive hardware, 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal flash memory, a fingerprint scanner and a very quality cameras at 13 megapixels (main) and 8 megapixels (front), both can shoot video in FullHD. There is also support for two SIM cards, LTE (4G), a 3000 mAh battery. Along with this, the smartphone received a compact aluminum body.

Package contents and first impressions

id="sub2">

Smartphone Huawei Honor 6C Pro comes in a small box made of hard cardboard. The name of the model is printed on the front of the package. Inside you can see the smartphone itself and accessories: a microUSB cable for synchronization and charging, an adapter for the mains, a paper clip to open the SIM card tray, instructions and a warranty card.

On sale you can find three colors of the smartphone body: gold, black and dark blue. At my disposal was a device of a spectacular dark blue color.

Dimensions of the device are typical for models with a 5.2-inch screen - 147.9 x 73.2 x 7.65 mm. Weight 145 grams. The smartphone is thin, lies well in the hand, does not slip, is assembled soundly. You can control it with one hand. However, reaching the edges of the screen is difficult. You have to connect the second hand or intercept. Actually, for this reason, in the settings, the user can set a special mode when, by swiping from edge to edge of the display, the picture on the screen will decrease by 30%. In this case, the desired menu items can be reached with one hand. At the same time, the device can be carried in the pocket of trousers, jeans, jacket or shirt. You don't experience discomfort. A small thickness is clearly a plus here.

Design and appearance

id="sub3">

In respect of appearance Honor 6C Pro is quite simple, it looks like a dozen devices in its price segment. The front part of the case is made of glass, with a 2.5D effect along the edges, that is, it curves slightly on the sides, as if hanging over the main part. There is an oleophobic coating, which, by the way, is very good. Fingerprints are not collected so quickly, and they are easily removed. In addition, the coating allows you to freely and smoothly swipe across the display. This is a plus.

The back is made of aluminium. Matte finish. There are plastic inserts at the top and bottom. Here are the antennas for mobile communications, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, navigation receivers, GPS/GLONASS.

The design looks monolithic, and the assembly does not cause any complaints even when squeezed. In the hand, the phone is perceived reliably, it glides barely noticeably due to the smooth edges of the back panel and pleasantly cools the skin.

Above the screen there is a speaker for telephone conversations. Its volume is enough to communicate in a noisy room or on the road. On the right side is an LED indicator. It flashes when receiving incoming messages, phone calls, low battery. It can be disabled or reconfigured in the corresponding menu item. To the left of the speaker are proximity sensors, lighting. The front camera is on the right.

There are no buttons or other controls below the screen. Function keys are fully integrated into the on-screen shell. Below you can see only the logo of the Honor sub-brand.

At the bottom end of the device there are speaker holes for external calls and music (right block), as well as a microphone (left block). In the center you can see a standard microUSB connector for connecting to a computer and charging.

I would rate the work of the main speaker at four. The sound here is quite powerful and loud. However, there is a minus - you do not feel the volume and detail. If you close the speaker grill with your hand or finger, the volume drops by 80%.

On the top, you can see a second microphone for noise reduction, as well as a hole for connecting a wired headset.

On the right side are the volume buttons, the power button / screen lock.

On the left is a compartment for two nanoSIM-sized SIM cards. One of them can be used to expand the memory. It uses microSD memory cards. This configuration does not allow you to use two SIM cards and a memory card at once. Will have to choose.

On the back side, you can see an area slightly protruding relative to the main surface. Here is the lens of the main camera 13 megapixels. There is also an LED flash.

A little lower in the center is a fingerprint scanner, which has a round shape. In addition to unlocking the device, you can use it to answer calls, turn off the alarm, view the list of open applications (swipe up on the sensor), open the notification panel (swipe down), and clear notifications (double tap on the sensor). Moreover, the user can create a secure area for storing confidential information and classified applications, which will be accessed by fingerprint.

The fingerprint sensor is fast enough. During testing, he accurately recognized my fingerprints and did not react to strangers. A total of five prints can be stored in the device's memory.

Screen. Graphic features

id="sub4">

The Honor 6C Pro uses a 5.2-inch IPS screen. Resolution - 720x1280, density 283 pixels per inch. The image is slightly lacking in smoothness in drawing thin lines and small fonts, but in everyday use, of course, the lack of resolution is not felt.

Viewing angles are great. Under direct sunlight, the image fades strongly, the display begins to glare. In automatic mode, the screen mainly has a backlight in the range of 20-40%, that is, it turns out that the colors are muted, not very bright. The picture on the display looks good, clean and believable.

The device has an eye protection mode that reduces the level of ultraviolet radiation of the screen, which prevents eye fatigue during prolonged use of the smartphone.

The gadget is equipped with a light sensor, thanks to which it can independently adjust the brightness level that is comfortable for working in given conditions. The sensor works quite correctly.

If we talk about the sensitivity of the screen, then it reacts to touch quickly and recognizes gestures without any problems. In total, the device supports up to ten simultaneous touches.

The Honor 6C Pro has a proximity sensor that blocks the display when you bring the smartphone to your ear. You can activate the screen using the fingerprint sensor on the back. This unlock option is quite comfortable.

Hardware platform: processor, memory, speed

id="sub5">

Honor 6C Pro is powered by an octa-core chip MediaTek processor MT6750 (4 cores A53 @ 1.5 GHz + 4 cores A53 @ 1.0 GHz), 28 nm process technology. Graphic coprocessor - Mali-T860 MP2. Under load, the smartphone body practically does not heat up.

Random access memory 3GB LPDDR4 and 32GB built-in memory. Memory cards up to 128 GB are supported, although the connector for them is combined with a slot for a SIM card. This means that you will have to use either a card or a nanoSIM.

If we talk about the operation of the interface, then during the test I did not notice any glitches and brakes at all. On a smartphone, you can easily watch videos in Full HD using local and network players.

The processor performance and the amount of RAM are enough to run quite demanding games like Asphalt Extreme or Modern Strike Online at least in average quality. The frame rate does not sag, the game is comfortable. The interface works briskly, although there are rare delays sometimes. In the browser, you can safely keep more than a dozen open tabs. FullHD video is played without slowdowns. Summing up the performance, I note that it is very, very sufficient.

Communication options

id="sub6">

The Honor 6C Pro has two slots for nano SIM cards. Working with SIM cards is implemented in the simplest way. When sending a text message or before making a call, you can choose which SIM card the action will be taken from. Only one SIM card can work with 3G / 4G networks, the second only works with voice and 2G.

The smartphone supports all modern communication networks: 2G/3G and 4G Cat. 4 on Russian frequencies (4G TDD LTE: Band 38/40 and 4G FDD LTE: Band 1/3/7/8/20), confidently receives the signal and does not lose it for no apparent reason. It is noteworthy that Honor 6C has a software option that allows you to improve the quality of signal reception, it is called "Signal +". Huawei says that in their next smartphone they have used not a double, but a “triple Signal + 2.0 virtual antenna.”

Talking on the phone is comfortable. The speaker has a good volume margin, and the interlocutors during testing for poor hearing didn't complain.

Wi-Fi 802.11 b / g / n only works in one 2.4 GHz band, which is typical for this price segment. Also from communications there is Bluetooth version 4.1. All modules work quickly and without failures.

Of the additional communication tools, it is worth noting GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS (standard cartography is built into the smartphone Google Maps). The navigation error radius during testing is about 3 meters, which is very small. The gadget perfectly copes with the role of a navigator.

Working time

id="sub7">

The smartphone has a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 3000 mAh. Under test conditions, with the number of calls 35-40 minutes a day, browsing the Internet for about 2 hours via 4G, listening to an mp3 player through a headset for about 2 hours a day, the device worked for 38 hours. When watching FullHD video, the gadget worked for 7 hours, in navigator mode - 3 hours 5 minutes. As a result, the device has to be charged every 1.5 days. If you use your smartphone in a less intensive mode, it will work for 2-2.5 days.

The level of autonomy in Honor 6C Pro is average for its class. The battery is charged in about 2 hours. The device does not support wireless charging.

User interface and operating system

id="sub8">

Honor 6C Pro runs Android 7.0 Nougat operating system and EMUI 5.1 user interface.

For those who are familiar with this shell, it will not be difficult to figure it out. Gestures are supported, there is an additional virtual control button that expands on the screen into a circular menu. The navigation bar has been modified, divided into several tabs, the first of them has a convenient timeline of events, the next one contains the menu quick access to the main settings, and swiping up from the bottom brings up another menu where you can find a flashlight, a voice recorder and some others useful features and settings.

Among other things, the user can choose the effect when unlocking or moving between desktops, choose the style of icons, fonts, and also the response to incoming call when you hold the phone to your ear. There is a translation function here silent mode when you turn the screen down, and tilt your phone to arrange widgets. In general, there are a lot of little things that especially impressionable people should like.

There are also several built-in themes with the possibility of free and paid downloads of new ones, as well as very nice pictures for the lock screen. This is one of the rare cases when, acquiring new smartphone, you do not have to change the built-in backgrounds and themes to new ones. There is an automatic wallpaper change mode, when the pictures are displayed in a chaotic manner. To do this, you just need to shake your smartphone.

Preinstalled programs except Google services Hardly ever. In the tools section there is an FM radio and a flashlight, a compass and a calculator, a voice recorder. The usual EMUI memory cleaning scanner is installed. Everything else can be downloaded and installed from the store Google Apps play.

Camera. Photo and video capabilities

id="sub9">

The Honor 6C Pro uses a 13-megapixel camera module. It has autofocus and LED flash.

The camera control menu is generally familiar from previous models. A gesture on the left calls up a menu with various modes, on the right - a menu of camera settings (image resolution, button control, etc.), and a menu is called from the bottom manual settings filming. In it, as usual, you can independently control the focus, shutter speed, ISO, exposure compensation and white balance.

Photos taken in daylight look good. There are practically no dark undetailed areas, or light ones without information. Colors and white balance are extremely accurate. Focusing speed is fast. Blurring appears in poor lighting. But in general, the picture is of satisfactory quality. Night photos are not the strong point of the camera.

The camera of Honor 6C Pro can shoot video at maximum resolution up to 1920×1080 at 30 speed with stereo sound. There is also the option of slow motion recording. The camera does not do as well with video recording as it does with photos: the image is loose and not always sharp, although it is bright and without noticeable artifacts. But still, you expect a lot more from shooting FullHD. The sound during video recording is recorded quite well, the noise reduction system copes well with wind noise.

I will also mention the front camera for selfies. It is 8 megapixels with f/2.4 aperture. There is no autofocus. You can record videos in resolutions up to 720p. The camera performs its function well.

Despite the fact that Honor 6C Pro is a typical representative of the class budget smartphones, he pleased with the stability of his work and fast interface. No critical flaws were found in this model. If there was anything, it was small things.

The functionality of the device is balanced at an optimal level. There is enough productive hardware and 3 GB of RAM, thanks to which you can play games, watch videos in FullHD without any problems. Pleased with the fingerprint scanner, with which you can unlock the device.

aluminum body and protective glass with 2.5D effect look very good considering the low cost of the phone. The device takes very high-quality photos and works for about a day with increased load. The pluses include support for LTE of all Russian bands, the ability to connect USB drives to a smartphone using a compatible OTG cable.

The Honor 6C Pro has few drawbacks, but they exist. First of all, this is the best quality video from the main camera. The second point is the combined slot of one of the SIM cards with a slot for a memory card. The phone does not support the second Wi-Fi band.

In general, Honor 6C Pro can compete with budget employees from Xiaomi, Meizu and other Chinese brands. Against their background, the smartphone from Huawei keeps parity.

Replaced by the updated Honor 6C . It is about him that will be discussed in this review.

Let's start the review of Honor 6C by listing the main characteristics, after which we will move on to the description of the appearance and consider the phone bundle upon purchase. The face of the smartphone is a 5-inch screen with a resolution of 1280 by 720 pixels and an IPS matrix. For such a diagonal, this resolution is quite enough to work comfortably with the phone.

The “heart” of the device is an 8-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor on a 64-bit platform. The frequency of the first 4 cores is 1.5 GHz, and the rest - 1.1 GHz. The Adreno 505 accelerator is responsible for the graphics in the smartphone.

The amount of RAM is 3 GB, which is quite enough not only for fast work operating system, but also for all modern games. To store information, there is a built-in memory of 32GB, expandable using a micro SD card.

Camera

The camera in Huawei Honor 6C has a 13MP matrix, and the front module is 5MP. There is also a flash on the back. The camera supports autofocus.

The differences in the quality of photo and video shooting between the Honors of the budget price segment are almost imperceptible. All devices shoot well in daylight, but quality suffers at night and indoors. By using software settings you can set the white balance, shutter speed and other standard settings.

Shooting subjects is surprisingly pleasant and does not raise any complaints. However, for compositions in dark rooms, the flash power is a little lacking. The front camera takes good selfies, again, in sufficient light. Video shooting in 30 fps and HD resolution.

autonomy

The phone has a 3020 mAh battery, fast charging is not supported. However, you will not need this function, since the device confidently keeps charging for two days with a moderate load. The kit includes a charger that does its job perfectly in a couple of hours. In standby mode, the smartphone will work up to 100 hours.

Communication and other functions

The phone can work in all accepted communication standards, therefore, with calls and using a SIM card of any mobile operator there shouldn't be any problems. By the way, about SIM cards: the device has two slots (nano and nano/microSD). This Huawei supports Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi direct. A separate reason for sadness is the lack of an NFC module. The price of the phone is an average of 11 thousand rubles. With the increased price relative to Honor 5C, some of the functions were abolished in 6C, which cannot but upset.

Appearance

The design of the device differs little from previous version, but still has several innovations:

  • Upper and lower frames made of plastic;
  • The camera window is now round;
  • Fingerprint scanner on the back.

The Honor logo flaunts under the screen, exactly the same inscription is located on the bottom of the rear panel. There is a flash near the camera window. At the top is a 3.5 mini jack headphone jack, and at the bottom of the case there is a mini USB for charging and connecting to a computer. The front side is covered with 2.5D glass, which makes the design of the phone "more expensive" than its price.

Performance

The Android 6.0 operating system works flawlessly. Shell EMUI 4.1 in many ways resembles iOS - all applications are located on desktops, which eliminates the need to use the classic menu. RAM is enough for 10 simultaneously running applications in the background. When you turn on demanding games, the smartphone starts to “sag” in performance only at the highest loads (fortunately, in most games you can set the graphics quality to medium or minimum).

For those who like exact numbers from benchmarks, here are the test data. In AnTuTu, the device scores 45579 points, and in geekBench 678/2121. After passing the test in 3DMark, the phone gave out 254 points. According to the latest indicator, the device is noticeably behind the older models in the Honor line.

Device package

In addition to the phone, the kit also includes a charger, consisting of a power supply and miniUSB cable, documentation. The Chinese, as usual, do not change themselves and do not add anything extra to the kit.

conclusions

In general, the characteristics of Huawei Honor 6C allow you to use the device to the fullest: games, entertainment, many applications, high-quality photos are not a problem for it (all this with impressive autonomy). However, those who want to switch to a new product should think carefully, since there are no global changes in the new generation of the phone.

At an inflated price (about 11 thousand rubles, depending on the store), the device does not offer anything new to the user. On the contrary, the device was deprived of several useful chips, the design was simplified and the screen resolution was reduced. Buying Honor 6C is worth it if you have not previously used Honor line devices.

By developing flagship models that would try to compete best smartphones in this price segment, Huawei does not forget to please its fans with more affordable budget models.

In October 2017, Huawei introduced the Honor 6C Pro in a number of European countries. In the model, the manufacturer has combined everything that should be inherent in inexpensive smartphones.

Appearance

Outwardly, this model differs little from its predecessors: a metal case with plastic inserts at the bottom and top of the rear panel and a glass screen. Even the inappropriate inscription, reminiscent of the brand at the bottom of the screen, was not removed by the manufacturer (behind this information would be enough).

Case dimensions: 147.9 x 73.2 x 7.65 mm. The weight of the device is 153 grams.

On the front panel, everything is in its place: on top is the front camera with sensors and a speaker, and on the bottom is the brand logo. The rear panel is also unchanged: a camera with LED flash (protrudes about 1mm above the body), immediately below it is a fingerprint sensor. Below is a logo with certificates and information about the country of manufacture.

On the side ends, everything resembles previous Huawei models: the function buttons (power and volume rocker) are located on the right, and the SIM card tray is on the left.

On the top of the gadget is a 3.5 mm jack for connecting a headset and an additional microphone.

On the lower side face there is a music speaker, a microphone (hidden under the grille, one to one like a speaker) and a microUSB charging jack.

The design of the smartphone left a good impression, even despite the lack of uniqueness within the brand. The phone is assembled well: there are no gaps between the body parts, no glass, the buttons are pressed easily, there is no backlash. The aluminum part of the body is very pleasant to the touch, the gadget does not slip out of the hand.

Presented Honor 6C Pro in three color options: dark blue, black and gold.

Performance

The eight-core MediaTek MT6750 is responsible for the performance of the smartphone (one 4 ARM Cortex-A53 cores operate at a frequency of 1.5 GHz, and the others at a frequency of 1 GHz). The processor is made according to the 28 nm process technology. Mali-T860 MP2 is designed to work with graphics.

Gadget memory size: RAM - 3GB (type LPDDR4), ROM - 32 GB. From the moment the device is turned on, the user has access to internal memory slightly smaller - 22 GB. Storage space for personal data can be increased with memory cards: the device supports Micro SD up to 128 GB. It can be put in a hybrid tray on the left side of the phone, but instead of one of the SIM cards.

In Antutu, Honor 6C Pro showed almost 39,000 points, which deserves positive reviews.

Unremarkable characteristics, especially the average processor by today's standards, at the same time allow you to solve many problems.

The device works smoothly, but after some time of use (for example, while playing World of Tanks) it starts to heat up, which causes discomfort.

Screen

The device received a TFT IPS screen with HD resolution and 282 ppi. Despite only HD-resolution, the screen can not be called bad. Its advantages: good review, anti-reflective coating, sufficient brightness (390 cd/m2) and contrast ratio (735:1).

In the screen settings, you can enable a special "eye protection mode", which, according to the manufacturer, can reduce UV radiation. In this case, the screen background will turn yellow (reminiscent of the "Reading" mode on Super AMOLED screens). It is very convenient that you can specify the time automatic switching to this mode.

There is an automatic brightness control mode in the smartphone.

Despite the size and 5.2” screen, it is convenient to use the smartphone with one hand.

The quality of the oleophobic coating applied to the glass is high: prints almost do not remain and are easily erased.

Camera

The gadget is equipped with two cameras: the main one with a 13 MP sensor has f2 / 2 aperture and 27 mm focal length, and the selfie camera with 8 MP sensor has f2 / 4 and the same focal length.

It makes no sense to compare the camera with more expensive models or flagship models within the brand. The pictures are good, but not perfect. The main disadvantage is the poor quality of the photo at night or in a room with insufficient lighting.

During the day, the camera allows you to take photos of good quality, but when you detail all its shortcomings are visible. With HDR mode, photos are better.

Focuses quickly. The settings and modes of the camera may not be enough for avid amateur photographers, but you can manually set the ISO and shutter speeds.

Both cameras allow you to record Full HD video (30 frames per second) with stereo sound. Cons are the same as when taking a photo.

In the camera settings, you can turn on the quick capture function. This will allow you to double-click on the volume down button to launch the camera on a locked phone and not miss the right moment.

The Watermark and Audio Note modes, which are inherent in Huawei gadgets, are worth attention. Thanks to the first mode, you can add the date, location and weather to the photo, and thanks to the second mode, you can add an audio recording (up to 10 seconds).

Software part

Out of the box, the 6C Pro runs on Android Nougat 7.0 with the proprietary EMUI 5.1 shell. In practice, system responsiveness is good: desktops switch quickly, touch buttons at the bottom of the screen work perfectly.

The navigation bar at the bottom of the screen can be edited: change the order or add a fourth virtual button.

autonomy

Rechargeable battery with 3000mAh capacity and function fast charging hidden under the body and not accessible to the user. Within 1-1.5 days of moderate use, the battery charge should be enough. With active use, the “autonomy” indicators are much more modest: about 8 hours of watching video at maximum brightness.

This model supports 3G and LTE networks, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n (2.4GHz). Among other network interfaces, it is worth noting the presence of Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, GLONASS and support for an OTG adapter. Sorry, nfc is not supported on this device.

Equipment

When unpacking the smartphone, in the box you can find charging block, USB cable, a special clip for installing a sim card and documentation. The Honor 6C Pro does not come with a headset or headphones.

Price and competitors

Honor 6C phone Pro available for an ordinary buyer: in retail, its price is about 11,000 rubles (in Europe, the price is 179 euros). But it is another matter that among budget models other manufacturers, 6C Pro does not have its own pronounced features, "chips" that could "hook" the buyer.

Competitors in the market with Honor 6C Pro, with the same price and technical equipment Too many: Meizu M5s or M6, Vibe S1 from Lenovo, Xiaomi 4X.

Advantages and disadvantages

The Honor 6C Pro is good enough for a budget phone.

  • productive processor;
  • high-quality aluminum case;
  • quick-response fingerprint scanner;
  • bright screen.
  • heats up rear end body during operation;
  • no NFC.
