Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus price: get ready to shell out
Last weekend, the author of the @evleaks Twitter account, Evan Blass, who previously earned a good reputation for the reliability of "leaks", revealed the official price of new products in Europe. According to the blogger, the Galaxy S8 will sell for €799, while its larger Plus version will sell for €899. "Reissue" virtual headset Reality Gear VR will cost 129 €, and the Gear 360 panoramic VR camera will be reduced to 229 €.
Blass also said that Samsung will release the Desktop eXperience docking station (more on it below), which turns the flagship, when connected to a monitor, into a full-fledged desktop PC. Presumably, DeX will not cost too much - 150 €.
For comparison, the Galaxy S7, released in March 2016, was sold in most European markets for 720 €, S7 edge - for 820 €, that is, new items will be priced closer to the devices Note line traditionally cost more. According to the numbers found in the database of the popular Geekbench benchmark, variants of the Galaxy S8 Plus with Samsung's own chipset are faster - if not by much - than models with Snapdragon 835. So, SM-G955U (most likely, this number hides an "unlocked" version S8 Plus for the US market) scored 1929 and 6084 points on the test in single-core and multi-core modes, respectively. And the "international" model SM-G955F, equipped with Exynos 8895, received 1978 and 6375 points.
