Bitcoin (BTC) continues to gain more and more winning positions in the world. And although for the first time digital coins were generated relatively recently - in January 2009, already today many users who did not even know about the existence of cryptocurrencies a few years ago are looking for the best bitcoin wallet for iOS, we will consider popular options in the article.

Benefits of Bitcoin Wallet for IOS

In the modern world, cryptocurrency has already acquired the status of a universal means of payment, which can be exchanged for goods and services, as well as for other types of currencies. The commission for conducting BTC transactions is either absent, or can be paid by the owner of the cryptocurrency on a voluntary basis (its size may affect the priority system during transaction processing).

Another advantage of the system is its complete decentralization. It works without an administrator, which completely eliminates the possibility of public or private management. According to the developer of one of the first Internet browsers, Mark Andreessen, in terms of significance, the Bitcoin system can be safely attributed to the most important breakthroughs in the field of computer science. Its development was the result of more than 40 years of research in the cryptography segment.

Today, anyone can join the number of owners of virtual currency, for this it is enough to acquire a bitcoin wallet. It is better to consult with experts about how to choose the most suitable one, since this decision depends on many factors. In any case, we can talk about bitcoin wallet:

  • for PC;
  • online, which provides storage of private keys on the network, on a computer controlled and connected to the Internet;
  • hardware (on a special device - carrier);
  • paper (regular paper key printout);
  • mobile (tablet or smartphone).

Experts are inclined to believe that in order to perform a number of daily operations (such as paying bills, purchasing goods, etc.) mobile version remains the most convenient. It's about about the program used to store private access keys to the existing virtual currency. It remains to find out which bitcoin wallet is better for iOS.

Although such wallets do not belong to the category of full-fledged clients and are able to work exclusively with simplified verification, which does not involve downloading the full chain of blocks, the volume of which can be measured in tens of gigabytes, their main advantage remains mobility and ease of use. The correctness of the information available can be confirmed by contacting trusted nodes of bitcoin networks.

Thanks to mobile application the owner of the gadget has the opportunity to directly pay for goods and services through NFC technology or a QR code on the display, as well as withdraw funds to Yandex Money, WebMoney (accounts of the WMX type) or Qiwi accounts.

Electronic Wallets IOs

A number of modern applications allow you to get the best e-wallet for cryptocurrency on ios for free:

blockchain

This bitcoin wallet for ios in Russian, which ensures the preservation of full control over the access code (has a convenient interface in Russian and functionality for multicurrency exchange, including the Russian currency).

Breadwallet

The basic version, designed exclusively for iOS bitWallet, with a user-friendly interface, passphrase access features, and the ability to Reserve copy.

MyCelium

Is different extensive functionality providing security and additional protection cryptographic tools, however, it is for this reason that the use of MyCelium can cause difficulties for a number of users.

Jaxx

With a simple and understandable interface, experts call it a rather controversial player in this market. Its main advantage is the ability to exchange a significant number of currencies and hassle-free synchronization of Jaxx on various devices.

Copay

Bitcoin wallet for iPhone with two-factor authentication and iOS support, Android and Windows phone has a high speed mode when making payments.

Open source Airbitz

An interface reminiscent of BreadWallet and a whole set of auxiliary functionality for a beginner.

It should be noted right away that the process of installing the selected application and creating a mobile version of the wallet usually does not take much time. So to create it in Breadwallet, just download and run this application. Then press the “new wallet” button that appears on the display and wait for a message containing a list of words or phrases necessary in a situation of lack or loss of access to restore the entrance.

The next step is to establish a PIN code that opens access to the account. In a number of iOS versions, there is a function to switch to fingerprint access mode. After completing these simple steps, the application is ready for use.

Safety

We should not forget that the mobile version, no matter how modern it may be, remains one of the least secure. The gadget can be stolen, damaged or lost. Therefore, it is recommended to use the so-called "cold" method of storing cryptocurrencies.

Such reliable crypto wallets are used to store (for example, on a PC) private keys offline in the system, which makes them practically invulnerable. It is this option that is optimal for investing significant funds. The mobile version of the wallet is great for storing relatively small amounts. Then even the loss mobile phone will not pose a threat to existing bitcoin savings.

Since the announcement new version operating room iOS systems number 8 has been over a month.

Apple has once again started letting bitcoin wallets through the App Store, its app store for mobile devices. Since then, there have been some good iPhone wallet apps in the App Store, and it's finally back. official app blockchain.

Despite the fact that many gadget freaks and IT people use devices on Android based, it is also important for iPhone users to know how they can use bitcoin on their phone. A lot has changed since Apple banned the last wallet app over a year ago, and now there are big choice wallets with various functionality, which has since become standard options for most applications.

Wallets from 2014 include Blockchain, Coin Pocket, bitWallet, GreenAddress, Pheeva, and breadWallet.

Let's start with what all these new wallets have in common. The built-in function of sending and receiving bitcoins (i.e. no clicking on external links), scanning QR codes, storing the address in the address book, sending to multi-sig addresses are also supported by all six wallets considered.

The negative aspect is that all these wallets installed through the App Store do not allow you to independently verify that you received exactly what was stated in the description. Luckily, these wallets have not been seen to have user money stolen, which gives some assurance that these wallets can be trusted with at least some of your bitcoins. However, like any mobile wallet, they should only be used for small amounts of coins and at your own risk. Let's consider each application in more detail.

After in the app store, we played around with this most downloaded wallet for iOS for a while. Last year's Blockchain Wallet users will recognize its interface, giving us a simple yet powerful way to manage mobile bitcoins.

Blockchain.info claims they rebuilt the app from the ground up, but aside from adding the PIN and updating the graphics, it's basically the same app that many people are familiar with. This is by no means a criticism for an app that is one of the best for the iPhone.

Pros: transaction details, easy generation of new addresses, great user confidence.

Cons: cannot send euros/dollars.

Coin Pocket

The first bitcoin wallet to hit the app store after Apple about bitcoin wallets, Coin Pocket is beautiful in its simplicity. When you open your wallet, you have three options to choose from: sending, receiving, and settings. Sometimes simplicity has its price, and in Coin Pocket, the user has only one address to receive funds per wallet. Therefore, for those concerned with financial integrity, this application may not be suitable. Due to the fact that only one bitcoin address can be used, only one transaction can be sent per block. If you make an erroneous transaction and need to quickly make a few more transfers, you won't have that option with this wallet.

Coin Pocket aims to be fast and in a simple way use bitcoin and is definitely a great option for those looking for a lightweight and simple wallet.

Pros: simple, beautiful interface.

Cons: Only one receiving address, one transaction per block.

bitWallet is another beautiful wallet whose interface you can customize with various color schemes. It also allows you to track your other wallets. Another interesting feature of bitWallet is that you can have several wallets on mobile that have pneumonic phrases for backup and use them on various platforms, for example, on another Android smartphone, a computer under Linux control etc.

There is no reason why this bitcoin wallet can't be the top contender to be the main wallet on your iPhone, as it is very easy to use and has a large number of functions.

Pros: themes, view private keys, multi-currency support.

Cons: Can't access from desktop web app.

green address

2014 has been named the year of multi-signature, and GreenAdress supports this idea. Using multi-signature allows you to increase the security of your bitcoins due to the fact that each transaction is signed not only by you, but also by your own GreenAdress key.

The GreenAdress iPhone Wallet makes this process quite simple by storing some of the keys on its server to make sure that transactions are carried out with less risk of fraud. This adds a small extra layer of security. However, this application is one of the most difficult to set up and also has a bug when using a PIN when making transactions. The good news is that backup copy wallet is paired with a simple passphrase that you can use to access your funds from any device.

Pros: multi-signature addresses for added security, web access.

Cons: Difficult setup, clunky interface.

Pheeva stands out from all other wallets as it is the service that stores your bitcoins for you. However, since your encrypted private keys are stored on the Pheeva server, the risk of being hacked cannot be ruled out. However, this security sacrifice provides instant confirmation to other Pheeva users, access to your funds from anywhere in the world, and the ability to send bitcoin with a simple username, provided the receiving party is also using Pheeva.

The Pheeva Bitcoin wallet aims to be “so simple that even your grandma can use it,” and while it is indeed a very easy wallet to use, the security issue may turn some users away from storing funds on the service.

Pros: CoinID system to facilitate the exchange of addresses, simple interface.

Cons: need e-mail to log in, storing your bitcoins on one server.

breadWallet is another beautifully designed wallet focused on ease of use. As one of the first bitcoin wallets to appear on the app store this summer, it received a lot of support.

The app comes with a lot of the features you would expect from a mobile wallet and works very well. However, it still lacks some features that some users might need, such as creating new addresses and using a PIN. Jailbreak lovers will have to give up on this app as it only supports iOS 7.1 and up.

Pros: easy to use, cleaning private keys.

Cons: iOS7.1 and above, can't generate new addresses.

Choosing the right wallet can be critical. While testing all these applications, it became clear how these wallets really differ from each other. Many of the features that were expected as standard in some of the larger wallets, such as sending dollar amounts or being able to send multiple transactions in a single block, were not actually in every one of them.

Such features are essential when paying in a store. You definitely don't want to blush in front of the seller if your payment takes up to 30 minutes just because you chose the wrong address.

Now, iPhone users can be thankful that Apple is allowing these wallets to return to the App Strore. At the very least, they won't have to listen to constant criticism from Android users about the evil Apple blocking bitcoin apps.

So do not rush to change your iPhone to an Android phone, but if you do, all these applications also have a version for Google's OS.

Note: not all the considered applications are available in the Russian app store, to access such wallets, you can change the country for the app store in the device settings or wait until the applications are available to residents of the Russian Federation.

Hello! Recently Apple company released to release Apple service Pay, which allows you to pay in stores using your iPhone without carrying a plastic card with you. Well, I think everyone knows this. Similarly, it is no secret to anyone that this same card must be linked to your iPhone through the special Wallet application.

And as soon as I wanted to master revolutionary technologies and combine my smartphone with a bank card, there was a hitch. Which? Very simple - after opening the Wallet, I did not actually find out why I went there. There was no Apple Pay option. It was possible to bind only tickets, discount and discount cards- in general, everything that was before in the Wallet program. Where did Apple Pay go? Now let's find him, let's go!

First of all, you should check compatible models, because if you are looking for where to add a card to Apple Pay on iPhone 4, then you can do this indefinitely. So, the ability to add a card is only on the following devices:

  • iPhone SE and older (6, 6S, 7 and their Plus versions). Please note that iPhone 5S is not supported.
  • iPad mini 3 and 4.
  • iPad Air 2.
  • iPad Pro.
  • Apple Watch (all generations).

Accordingly, all future device models will also support Apple Pay. Otherwise, you will read this article in the year 2018 and ask - why didn’t the author indicate the iPhone 8 (or what else will be there)? :)

So if your device is different from those indicated above, then you cannot add a card and, accordingly, the Apple Pay menu in the iPhone will be absent. It is useless to look for it there.

But with this I'm all "OK" - iPhone model SE, which means it should be possible to connect the card, but I did not find this item in the menu. Why? And all because for writing articles, I often experiment with my iPhone.

In iPhone, you can not only change the system interface language, but also the region to which your device belongs. These are two settings independent of each other - it is possible, but at the same time to specify absolutely any region of the gadget. And in the case of payment system from Apple, this plays a very important role, therefore:

  • Open Settings and go to General.
  • Select "Language and Region" and look at what is indicated there.

By the way, for some reason, Romania was installed for me.

Why I did this, I couldn’t remember :) As you understand, there is no Apple Pay in this country, which means you can’t add a card for payment. We change the location to Russia and go to the Wallet application.

Finally, we see the menu for linking the card, attach it and boldly go to pay in the store using the newfangled technology of contactless payments.

P.S. If it helped - put a “like” so that the author doesn’t forget anything else! :) And of course, write in the comments - I’m always waiting!
