Windows. Viruses. Notebooks. Internet. office. Utilities. Drivers

Somehow it happened that we have not yet talked about the most important thing, namely, how to set a password on a computer. The truth about that, I already wrote, but now there are few users working on this system, so it's time to talk about this problem for new operating systems, such as Windows 7, 8.1 and 10. That's what we're going to do now.

Of course, this is not a panacea. If you are willing and able to hack any protection and pick up any password, but for ordinary users (from children, curious relatives and your work neighbor) it works well and easy installation password to your computer.

Today we will consider setting a password for three operating systems at once. Surely one of these descriptions will be useful to you. You can also set a password on the BIOS, but we'll talk about that another time. And now I will tell you how to set the password under the administrator account.

The first thing to do is to come up with a password that you want to set on your computer. There should not be any names and dates of birth, because. such passwords are cracked in one, two, three. Need good password 8-15 characters, which will contain both numbers and letters. The main thing is that you can remember it, or write it down somewhere secretly from prying eyes.

When entering a password during installation, do not rush and carefully look in which layout (Russian or English) you enter it, and I had cases when people after setting the password could no longer log into their system, and I had to crack it.

Windows 7

In the Windows 7 operating system, the password is set in this way:

The fastest way:

  • Open the menu Start.

  • Click on your account picture.
  • In the window that opens on the right, select the link " Create a password for your account».

  • A window will open in which you need to write the password and a hint to it twice.

Write the password in 8-15 characters, and the hint is such that no one guesses about your password.

  • We press the button " Create a password».

Now, when you restart or turn on your computer, you will need to enter a password.

If you need to move away from the computer for a while, then simultaneously press the keys Win + L and the computer will be locked. And to unlock the computer you need to press any key on the keyboard or move the mouse and enter your password.

Set a password for the computerWindows 8.1

In Windows 8.1, you can set a password on your computer in several ways. I will describe one of them for you.

click right click mouse on menu button Start, and select in context menu paragraph Control Panel.

In the Control Panel find " Accounts and Family Safety"and click on the item" Change account type«.

Select your account and click the " Rename«.

In the next window select " Create a password«.

You can set a password via Options (taskbar icon). But the method described above is much simpler.

Set a password for the computerWindows 10

In the Windows 10 operating system, the password is set through Options. There are several ways to get there:

  1. Open menu Start and select the gear icon at the bottom left. That's what it is Options.

  1. Right click menu Start and click on the link in the context menu Options.

  1. Click on the search icon on and at the bottom in the search box write the word " options" (without quotes). A list of all system settings will appear. We just need Options with a picture of a gear.

I already had a password so it says " Change". But everything else is done exactly the same as shown in the pictures.

In the first column, write your password. In the second we repeat it, and in the third we write a hint for ourselves. Write such a hint so that no one else guesses what password you have set. Otherwise, all your work will be in vain.

That's all! You can restart your computer and try logging in with a password.

If something is not clear, ask questions in the comments. I will answer all your questions.

Many PC users are concerned about their data and want to protect their account. Then they have a question, how to put a password on the computer. Today we will consider this issue in detail.

What gives the password

Probably, the question will immediately arise whether there is any point in protecting your account. Of course have. For example, if you have many users at home, and only one computer, it is definitely worth creating an account for everyone in the system and putting a code so as not to interfere with each other and keep all important files safe.

However, keep in mind that this is not the most best defense, and it's easy to get around. In search engines, you can find many solutions on how to log into a password-protected Windows account.

Set a password

Now, in fact, let's move on to how to put a password on a computer step by step. We will look at the example of two operating systems - Windows 7 and 10. They have been very popular lately.

Windows 7

Let's start with a younger version of the operating system Windows systems. Installing a security code on it is easy:

  1. Go to menu Start and open Control Panel.
  2. There we are interested in the section "User accounts".
  3. It should click on the link "Change Windows Password".
  4. Now to install secret code click on the inscription: "Create a password for your account".
  5. Next, you need to enter the code twice, as well as any word or numbers as a hint if the code is lost or forgotten.
  6. Here's how to put a password on Windows computer 7. The instruction is quite simple, and even a "teapot" can handle it.

    Windows 10

Now let's write down the instructions on how to put a password on a Windows 10 computer:

    Find out the Windows password

Some are interested in how to find out the password set on the computer. This cannot be done, but you can reset the security code.

    Reset password on Windows 10

To do this, we need a flash drive with a recorded distribution of this operating system. If it is, then:

    1. Boot from USB.
    2. In the installer window, click "System Restore".
    3. A window with various actions will appear. Click on "Diagnostics".
    4. There you have to choose "Extra options".
    5. Next, click on "Command line".
    6. Then you need to make a copy of it. To do this, enter the command copy D:\Windows\system32\cmd.exe D:\Windows\system32\sethc.exe /Y .
    7. After that, a message will appear informing you that the file has been copied. You need to reboot the system.
    8. Now you need to press the key about 5-6 times SHIFT when the OS asks for a code.
    9. In the opened command line you should write net user admin2 / add .
    10. Then write net localgroup Administrators admin2 /add to make the new account an administrator.
    11. After that, you need to restart the computer system and log into Windows through the second account and delete the code on the old one.

Imagine that you have a sibling and you have two different computers. However, your next of kin is very fond of using your device, which is unlikely to please you. What to do so that no one could even start the computer? The only way out is to put a password on it. The main thing is not to forget it yourself, because this can lead to problems ... Otherwise, it’s quite reliable way protection, which, however, is easily bypassed with a strong desire. However, I do not think that your brother or sister is such an expert to deal with this issue on their own. There are several solutions that I will cover right now.

Account password

In order to hide your data in the easiest way, you can simply put a password on your account. This method is interesting in that protection is activated in just a few clicks of the mouse and the computer does not even need to be restarted.

On the other hand, this is far from the most optimal level of protection, which is bypassed even with a little desire (in Google, for example, you can find solutions that lie in open access). However, as a simple defense, this is a very good method.

I will show an example on Windows 7, which is one of the most popular operating systems at present. If you have a different OS, be it Windows 8, XP or Vista, you should not worry, because the algorithm of actions for all of them practically does not differ.

First of all, click on the "Start" button and select "Control Panel". Before us appeared a window with the settings of the computer. Here we are only interested in one item and it is called "User Accounts".

Another window has opened where you can make various changes to your account. Here we are interested in the first point, namely - "Creating a password for your account." We press.

Everything is very simple here: you need to enter a password and confirm it. As for the complexity of the password, then do not try hard, otherwise you will forget it. Even a fairly simple password is unlikely to be able to be guessed by anyone, and there is no point in this, if this type of protection is much easier to bypass than to sit and select symbols with numbers. You can also enter a hint here. This is optional, but recommended - if you forget your password, a hint will help you remember it.

Finally, click "Create Password". All. Now every time you log in, the system will ask you for a password. In order not to forget it, write it down somewhere on a piece of paper and hide the last one.

We block the system through the BIOS

I think many of you have heard more than once that you can set a password through the BIOS. This is true and here is a simple instruction for you.

First of all, you need. Since I have already told you how to do this, I will not repeat myself. After that, select the Security section from the menu.

Here you will be able to set different passwords.

  • Supervisor Password. This is not the password we need at all. The fact is that Supervisor Password sets a password for the BIOS itself. What does it mean? And the fact that without this password the user will not be able to change the BIOS, because he simply cannot enter it.
  • user password. This password is similar to the previous one, but the difference is that the user can enter the BIOS, only he will not be able to make any changes.
  • HDD password. And this is exactly what we need, because given function allows you to set a password on the hard drive.

After you set a password, don't forget to save your changes (usually using the F10 key) and restart your computer. Now every time you boot you will have to enter your password.

At this method have their own characteristics. Firstly, not all BIOS versions support this feature. And secondly, resetting the password is very simple - all you need to do is remove the battery on the motherboard. However, few people know about this, so you don’t have to worry that your next of kin will get into system unit to remove the battery. In addition, getting to it is not as easy as it seems.

Parental control

Windows has such an interesting option as parental controls. Of course, I would not call it a panacea, but it copes well with its tasks. For example, you can easily block a number of programs and games that are unwanted for children, or, for example, set a time limit for using a computer. Agree, this is quite a good functionality.

To use this feature, you first need to put a password on the administrator account, as mentioned in the first part of the article. Then you need to create any account.

Click on the "Start" button and go to the "Control Panel". Here we are looking for the "Parental Control" section.

A new window has opened. Here we select an account (not an administrator).

Check the box next to "Enable using current settings", and then set the desired parameters. There is nothing difficult in this. After the parameters are set, do not forget to click the OK button to save the changes.

Now your child or any other person who was prepared for the changes will not be able to install the game, and will also not be able to play it, because you need to know the administrator password to change the settings.

Very often users personal computers there is a need to put a barrier on access to them. So that no one can get to personal data, see your photos, documents, go online, generally start the operating system. To do this, you need to know the password on the computer when you turn it on. Both at home, so that household members do not climb into it, and at work, so that curious colleagues cannot harm you or make fun of you.

Immediately you need to consider that there are two main ways to put a password on the computer when you turn it on. One of them, simpler, is designed to ensure the security of a home device, the second, more serious, is for what is at work. Let's briefly consider both options.

At easy way go to the following path: "Start" - "Settings" - "Control Panel". Next, we go to Accounts and a section of their changes. And as a specific user, we create a password. That's all. We figured out how to set a password on a computer when you turn it on. There was nothing difficult about it.

When solving our problem on a service PC, it is advisable to use BIOS settings for greater protection. So let's start. In the process of turning on

computer go into the BIOS. At different devices it happens in different ways. Most often, you need to press the network button and hold down the Del key. If that doesn't work, try holding Esc, F1 or F11. In extreme cases, refer to the instructions for your device.

Then, through the BIOS Setting Password or Security, go to the User Password item. Next: Bios Features Setup, select the Security Options option, and then System. Return to the Security tab again, follow to Supervisor Password and enter another code here. To resolve the issue of how to set a password on the computer when it is turned on, it remains to save all the changes made and exit the BIOS. We execute the item Save and exit setup, we answer: Yes.

After that, we start the operating system and give the command "Start" - "Run". It is necessary to perform a very important step, in which it is necessary to set the encryption key for the passwords themselves and make sure that it is saved on the local device. Very important: in the "Open" field, use the keyboard to type syskey and be sure to confirm the service.

We update and check the box next to Passwod Startup, after that, to confirm, enter the password again in another field. At the end of the process, which helps us find out, when turned on, we log in to the System Generated password, check the Store Startup Key locally and confirm all our actions by pressing the OK button.

Finally, a couple of tips/recommendations. To make the real meaning of all this, come up with a password as complex as possible, and not the date of birth of your wife. It should contain randomly spaced letters, numbers, punctuation marks. And remember it or write it down so that you don't have it later, in which case, serious problems. If you forget the password, with the second option to create it, you may lose all the information available on the device.

To solve the problem of how to set a password, you can use third party utilities, for example, such as WinLock, Homesoft Key, Outpost, DeviceLock Me, NVD Monitor, AdjustCD and some others. They will do most of the work themselves, with minimal involvement from you.

Often users find themselves in a situation where it is necessary to hide the contents of a folder or file from prying eyes, so the question arises of how to put a password on the folder.

Unfortunately, the developers of the Windows operating system did not provide for the presence of such a function as setting a password for individual user files and directories.

The OS can only be configured to prevent certain users from using or viewing a particular type of directory, file, or program.

Setting a password for a folder is necessary if:

  • you want to hide your files from unauthorized access to them by others;
  • want to protect your personal data from illegal copying or distribution.

Set a password for the archive

Using this method, you can password-protect a folder with any type of files, while it is possible to hide the very fact that the archive contains files of a certain format.

The code entry window will crash before the archive opens, so it is impossible to find out about its contents if the user does not know the combination. A password for an archive without programs is the easiest way to protect folders.

Advice! The function of setting a password for the archive does not require the preliminary installation of an additional software, it is only necessary to have preset free programs WinRAR or 7-zip.

To add the desired folder to the archive and password-protect it, follow the instructions below:

  • Right-click on the folder you are interested in and add it to the archive, as shown in the figure;
  • Immediately after you have selected the "add to archive" action, a window will appear with various settings parameters of the created archive. Go to the tab with additional parameters and find the button for setting a password, it is shown in the figure;
  • Click on the button that allows you to set a password.

After this action, a small input window will instantly appear. The new code must be entered twice (to check the correct entry). You can also check the box next to the option to encrypt filenames.

Thus, third-party users will not be able to find out anything about the type of hidden files.

The process of setting a password for the archive

After trying to open the archive, we see that you first need to enter the code and only then you can view and edit its contents.

This method The installation code is the simplest and quite efficient. However, to implement it, you will need one of the archivers on your computer.

Also, if the code is forgotten or lost, restoring the contents of the archive will be a rather difficult task for the user. That is why you should keep backup protected files, for example, on cloud storage.

Using the above method, you can also password-protect the archive on a USB flash drive.

Using PasswordProtect USB

On the Internet, you can find a huge amount of third-party software that can cope with the task of installing code on the system object you need.

A large proportion of such programs, unfortunately, can harm your files, and not protect them from unauthorized access by other users.
