Without further ado, let's immediately start figuring out how to connect a smart Xiaomi bracelet Mi Band 2 to an Android smartphone, and at the same time let's talk about the device itself. Versions 3 and 4 of the Xiaomi fitness tracker have already been released, and in order to write on it detailed instructions, hands reached only now.

Xiaomi Mi Band 2 - instructions for connecting and setting up a fitness watch

Before that, I had Xiaomi Mi Band of the first version, but I quickly abandoned it. The reason is banal - it was not very convenient to use it without a screen. It was just a stupid fitness tracker, all the information from which could only be viewed through mobile app— not convenient. Here we also have a display, which means that the main data will be displayed on it - hours, steps, calories, notifications.

The design of the bracelet, among other things, includes a button. What is it for? With a single press, it turns on the screen, with subsequent presses, it switches other functions that we can configure in the application.

Among other things, Mi Band 2 is protected according to the IP67 standard, protected from water and moisture, and from shock. On the first day, as soon as I unpacked it, as soon as I tried to put it on, it fell off me 2 times in a row. At the same time, the screen was not scratched. Regarding the screen cover, I have not been able to find out whether it is glass or plastic, so I will most likely lean towards plastic.

How to connect Xiaomi Mi Band 2 to phone?

Before you connect the Xiaomi fitness tracker to your smartphone, you need to properly charge it, although when you just take it out of the box, it will most likely have some percentage of the battery on it - it sits down very slowly. Charging is original and the only negative is that it’s inconvenient to get the bracelet out of the strap every time and then put it back in – it’s good that you don’t have to do this so often.

To connect the Xiaomi Mi Band 2 bracelet to the phone, Bluetooth must be activated on the latter - this is exactly the type wireless communication pairing is configured. Fortunately, I have a smartphone from the same company, Xiaomi Redmi 4X, so there shouldn't be any problems.

Next, you need to install the Mi Fit program from the repository Google Play Market - it is free and is in the public domain. After launch, create account in Xiaomi, or we use an existing account on Google or Facebook - those who use an Android phone anyway have mail on Google, so there are no difficulties here.

Select the type of device - "Bracelet"

We accept the terms of use, which state that information about your sleep and heart rate will be collected and stored

To connect, press the function button on the tracker

After successful synchronization, we set up unlocking the phone using the bracelet - there is such a convenient function here, in which if you and Xiaomi Mi Band 2 are connected to the phone and are in the reception area, the screen will unlock automatically without any action on your part - without entering a password or fingerprint.

Since I have done this before, I have the unlock recovery function displayed - during the initial setup of Xiaomi Mi Band 2, the connection from scratch function will be displayed.

To enable it, we type the password from the phone

Press the button on the tracker again

And voila - the Xiaomi Mi Band 2 bracelet is connected to the phone.

It remains only to set the distance at which the phone will be unlocked via Xiaomi Mi Band 2

Three grades are available:

  • close
  • near
  • far

By the way, immediately after connecting, Xiaomi Mi Band 2 automatically requested an over-the-air update from the server and installed the latest firmware version.

Setting up a fitness bracelet Xiaomi Mi Band 2

We proceed to the process of setting up the Xiaomi Mi Band 2 bracelet. On home page Mi Fit app displays a summary of how it is used. For the initial configuration, we need to set up our physical data so that the bracelet correctly counts the distance and calories. To do this, go to the "Profile" section in the lower menu.

and click on the edit icon in the upper right corner

Here you can configure the profile for Xiaomi Mi Band 2 in detail:

  • date of birth

All this is necessary so that the bracelet calculates steps as accurately as possible and measures the heart rate data with your age.

How to set up Xiaomi Mi Band 2 to send notifications?

Now let's move on to what is most interesting for me personally - setting up alerts. To be honest, I don’t really use the functions of a fitness tracker, but I really like the bracelet as a watch, alarm clock and various reminders. To enter the settings, click on the link Mi Band 2 in the same section "Profile"

We already have an unlock, so we immediately go to the second point.

Incoming call

By activating the incoming call alert, the bracelet will vibrate when the phone receives a call. But for those numbers that are not in the contact list, you can turn it off separately. It is also possible to delay the notification so that the bracelet does not distract you once again if the phone is next to you and you see this call and are ready to answer it right away.

Alarm

A very handy feature that I use all the time. Its main feature is that you can put the bracelet on your hand at night, and at the appointed hour in the early morning it will vibrate, while not waking everyone around you with an audible signal, as is the case with a phone.

To assign your alarm, click on the "Add" button and set the time, days of operation and turn on the repeat mode - to repeat the vibration every 10 minutes, if you turned it off. Switching off occurs by pressing the function key on the Xiaomi Mi Band 2 fitness bracelet.

Alerts

In this section, we select applications from which notifications will be displayed on the screen of the fitness bracelet. First you need to turn them on with a toggle switch, and also, if you wish, activate their receipt only when the smartphone screen is off.

To add new programs from which we want messages to come, click on the "Manage applications" button and check the boxes you need

After that, the corresponding icons will be displayed on the screen of the Xiaomi Mi Band 2 bracelet.

Unfortunately, the manufacturer has not yet solved the problem when an alert is displayed on the screen for only a few seconds and is not stored in memory - if you did not have time to look at it right away, then you can only guess what exactly happened - in order to see which one the application received a notification, you need to get the phone.

Don't mess around

An interesting function that is designed to ensure that you do not sit constantly at the computer, but at least occasionally get up and stretch your body. Here you can set the start and end times of the mode, and there is also a separate “Do Not Disturb” setting so that the bracelet does not distract you during those hours when you really do not need to be physically active. At the same time, you can set Xiaomi Mi Band to vibrate every 30, 60, 90 or 120 minutes while you are not active, and remind you to do, for example, exercises if you lead a not very active lifestyle.

To display additional settings for the Xiaomi Mi Band 2 bracelet, click on the "More" link

Incoming SMS

Here, I think everything is clear - incoming notification sms messages

Vibrate when the alarm rings

This Xiaomi Mi Band 2 setting is different from the main alarm - here we can activate vibration when the alarm goes off on the phone itself without being tied to the same bracelet function, which is offline.

Target Notification

Here, vibration is turned on when the fitness goal set in the application is reached. As I said, I am not very interested in this topic, but I will briefly talk about it below.

Do not disturb mode

Well, this mode sets the time when the Mi Band bracelet will not bother you for any reason, for example, during a night's sleep. To view the information on the screen by raising the wrist, you can separately enable this function.

Additional time and screen settings Xioami Mi Band 2

We return to the previous page, which is called "Mi Band" and scroll down after setting alerts. There is a bracelet search function here - if you have lost it, then by clicking on the link it will vibrate.

Visibility - turns on the availability of Mi Band for detection by other devices

Wristband location - setting on which hand you will wear the fitness tracker. Apparently, this also affects the results of statistics.

Screen settings - here we select which elements will be displayed on the screen

  • Time
  • Distance
  • calories
  • Pulse
  • Battery

Switching between them happens when you touch touch button on the hull.

Time Format - Set the display of the clock on the screen. There are two options - either with a date or without.

Here you can also turn on the functions of triggering by hand movement - to view information and to switch. For example, you are sitting, doing something, walking, you want to see the time - you can press the button on the display and see the time, or make a simple movement with your hand - bring it to your face.

It also has automatic heart rate tracking while you sleep.

Xiaomi Mi Band 2 fitness tracker settings

As promised, at the end I left the functionality that allows you to use the Xiaomi Mi Band 2 bracelet as a fitness tracker.

In the "Profile" menu, we can set ourselves goals for daily distance and weight loss, by calculating how many calories are burned due to our activity.

Well, the goal is to lose or gain weight.

How exactly he counts calories, I honestly do not know for sure, but, most likely, based on your geometric data. At first, you have already entered your data: height, weight, age and gender, as well as the hand on which you wear this same Mi Band. After that, it calculates your activity, most likely, somehow calculates the average step length, and based on this, the distance traveled and calories burned.

If we scroll down, we will find another feature - setting behavior labels

Here we can choose one or another type of activity and set the bracelet to track your movements that you will do while doing it. After which they are deposited in his memory.

For example, you start cycling or playing badminton, the tracker will automatically recognize this sport and then you will receive a table showing what and how much you did in a day and how you moved.

To create a profile of these types of activities, select the one you need, click on the "Start" button and start doing it.

At the end of the workout, click on "Pause" and complete.
Separately, you can track detailed statistics on the acceleration of movement during exercise and heart rate

You can also enable tracking of your activity mode manually. To do this, switch to the "Activity" tab in the main menu and select

  • outdoor running
  • Treadmill
  • bike ride
  • Walking

To start tracking, click on the appropriate button in the application.

If you go to the settings (the “gear” icon in the upper right corner), then here you can set automatic pause when you stop exercising and activate a warning about a high heart rate.

You can also select a map to record your movement track in memory.

Among other things, Mi Band 2 can work without an application, it is an absolutely self-sufficient device and it doesn’t matter if you have permanent connection with a smartphone or not, it can independently count steps, calories, count your heart rate, distance traveled and show you the time all the time. At the same time, he has some inner memory, and, if I'm not mistaken, about 3 days. So if you need to constantly know your activity, and track accurate statistics, then every 3-4 days you will need to connect to your phone and synchronize all your data. But if accurate statistics are not needed, then you can do without an application.

In general, what can I sum up? Fitness bracelet Xiaomi Mi Band 2 for me is really love at first sight - now I can’t imagine my life without it. Many write that nothing is visible in the sun when you bring the screen to your nose - I don’t know, I can see everything perfectly ...

The Xiaomi Mi Band 2 fitness tracker has become very popular in the world, as it received an OLED display with data display and did not lose autonomy compared to the previous Mi Band 1S Pulse. In this article, we offer 12 setup tips and everything you need to know about the Mi Band 2.

How to turn on or turn off Mi Band 2

The first question that arises immediately after unpacking the tracker is how to turn it on? The answer is very simple: it is enough just to charge Mi Band 2 from the supplied charger via USB port and it activates itself. There are no on/off switches on its body, as well as a Bluetooth power button. If the bracelet is charged, then it is turned on and Bluetooth automatically works.

Exactly the same story with turning off the Mi Band 2 fitness bracelet: as long as it has a charge, it will not work to turn it off. I hope you figured it out: while the tracker is charged, it is turned on and ready to use. As soon as its charge runs out, it automatically turns off. The total charging time is approximately 1.5 hours.

Mi Band 2 app for Android and iOS

This tip will be useful for those who have purchased Mi Band 2 for the first time. Experienced users who have been using Mi Band from the very first generation already know that there is a proprietary MiFit smartphone application on Android based and iOS, which allows you to collect statistics and see more detailed dynamics of your progress on the phone screen.

Now in the AppStore and Google Play there are several programs for Mi Band 2, which application is better is a personal matter for everyone. Personally, I liked the standard native MiFi t from Xiaomi developers the most.

Download application for Mi Band 2:

To connect the bracelet to the application, just activate Bluetooth on your smartphone and go to MiFit. In the application, select Mi Band from the list of available gadgets and wait until the tracker is synchronized with MiFit. The pairing process is the same for both Android and iPhone.

What to do if the phone does not see Mi Band 2? First and most important: make sure that your smartphone has Blutooth version 4.0 or higher, the tracker will not work with Bluetooth 3.0. Second: download the official MiFit software and AppStore or Google Play and repeat the process. Third: reset the Bluetooth settings on your smartphone and try to connect to the bracelet again.

Display setting

Mi Band 2 has a small OLED screen that can display a lot useful information to keep the tracker from constantly syncing with your smartphone. To configure what exactly will be displayed on the screen, you need to go to the MiFit application> Profile (Profile)> Mi Band 2> Display settings (Mi Band Display Settings) and in this menu select what you want your bracelet to show on your wrist . Among the available features of the Mi Band 2 display are the following:

  • exact time (and date)
  • perfect steps
  • distance traveled
  • calories burned
  • current pulse
  • battery charge

Many users ask us how to set the time on Mi Band 2. The answer to this question is simple: the bracelet is synchronized with the MiFit application on your smartphone and sets exactly the same time as on the phone. Thus, you just need to have the time set correctly on your smartphone, and the bracelet will pick it up by itself.

Xiaomi has several revisions of the Mi Band 2 with different display calibrations: in the first batches, the display shines green, and in the rest, blue (turquoise). So don't be alarmed if you and your friend's wristbands have different screen colors. Also, some Mi Band 2 may have brighter displays, while others may be dim.

Alas, it is impossible to increase the brightness of the Mi Band 2 screen. Nothing can be done about it, it all depends on the party. P.S. if possible, buy older versions with a bright green display in beige cardboard boxes, rather than newer models in white boxes.

Increasing work time

The second generation of bracelets works for a long time, compared to competitors - about 20 days. But you can further increase the autonomy of the tracker by disabling some functions. First, turn off the constant synchronization via Bluetooth, the bracelet can be synchronized once every few days, and not all the time.

Secondly, turn off the Heart Rate Sleep Assistant function in the settings, it is designed to more accurately measure the quality of sleep by activating the heart rate sensor, but this leads to a rapid discharge of the bracelet battery. Disable it and get plus 3-5 days to autonomy.

Set up Sitting Notifications

Another cool feature of the bracelet is the ability to activate a reminder that it's time for you to get up and walk. This is especially true for people with a sedentary lifestyle. The function in the central tab is turned on - a red icon with a sofa (Idle alert). Here you can select the exact time when the function will be active and when it will not disturb you, for example during sleep. The notification comes in the form of a vibration and an icon on the screen.

How to change the quality of sleep

In addition to steps, Mi Band 2 also analyzes the quality of your sleep. You do not need to configure sleep, the function works automatically out of the box. Statistics are displayed in the very first tab (Status) and show how much you fell asleep yesterday, how long you were in deep sleep and light sleep, as well as the exact time you woke up.

Activate and switch the display with a gesture

Usually, to turn on the Mi Band 2 screen, just press the touch key, but there is another way. Activated in the settings Profile> Mi Band> Raise hand to display data. Now, with the gesture "see the time", the Mi Band 2 display will light up and show the time.

You can also scroll through the desktops on the bracelet screen by rotating your wrist, this is configured in the same place as the first function. This is useful, for example, when you are wearing seals and cannot turn on the screen with the touch button.

Date and time display

Initially, the tracker showed only the time. But the developers heard their users and added the date display on the Mi Band 2. To activate this feature, go to MiFit> Profile> Time format and select the right time + date item in the menu. Now the main screen of the bracelet will show not only the time, but also today's date. Really needed feature.

Reward for completed plan

If you have fulfilled today's plan for the distance traveled (steps), reward yourself with Mi Band 2 congratulations on the achievement of the goal. To do this, go to the central tab MiFit> More (more) and activate Goal Notifications. Now, when you complete your steps, the tracker will notify you with a vibration and a congratulatory icon on the screen.

How to set up smart unlock Mi Band 2

This Bluetooth verification feature has been working since the very first generation of fitness bands. To enable smart unlocking of your smartphone, go to the central tab and select Screen Unlock. Now, when your hand with a bracelet approaches the phone, it will detect you and unlock the display without a pin code / pattern / scanner.

Another secret of Mi Band 2 is the ability to determine the distance to the phone on which the smart unlock function will work. To do this, go to the settings of the fitness bracelet, then to the "Unlock with a bracelet" tab and tap on the images of the smartphone in your hand in the center of the screen 10 times. A hidden menu will open in which you can select the detection distance to the phone: less than a meter, about 1 meter and 3 meters. Cool, right? Did you know about this opportunity?

Motivation for sports

If you did a good workout today, you can cheer yourself up at the end of the day, to do this, go to the first MiFit menu and click on the icon in the upper right corner. In the window that opens, it will show how many percent of people in the world you have overtaken today in terms of activity, this is really motivating.

Running in the desired heart rate zone

If you want to lose weight, then of course not. better way(other than diet) do it than by running. Activity in the right heart rate zone helps burn calories and Mi Band 2 can help you with this.

To do this, go to the “Running” tab and select running in an open area or on a treadmill. Here, in the settings, you can set allowable level pulse on overcoming which the bracelet will notify you with vibration. You can also adjust your running rhythm, the tracker will notify you if you slow down.

Change the strap of Mi Band 2 to a colored one

The Mi Band 2 comes with a strap in graphite black out of the box. In addition to it, Xiaomi also produces green, blue and orange straps, you can choose your own according to your style or mood. The cost of such an accessory in China is 3-5 dollars.

We hope you found our selection of tips on using the Mi Band 2 useful, if you have any of your own life hacks about how you use the tracker, tell us in the comments!

Today, smartphones have become very tightly integrated into the life of every person and occupy a very important place in it. People no longer consider smartphones toys, but treat them as full-fledged working complexes, and this, in turn, sets them up for serious purchases. Technology manufacturers realized very early on that this complex can be easily expanded with additional accessories, and began to produce many gadgets, making life even easier for smartphone owners, such as smart watches. In this guide, the setup of the Xiaomi Mi Band 2 fitness bracelet with an OLED display, which has already become a bestseller, will be analyzed in detail.

An important step in the setup is the correct charging of the smart watch. After unpacking the device, pull the bracelet capsule out of the rubber strap in which it is located, and then insert it with shiny contacts into a special Charger included in the kit. Connect the charger together with the capsule to the computer via the USB port and wait a couple of hours: this time is enough for the tracker to be fully charged.

Application installation and registration

After the Xiaomi Mi Band bracelet is fully charged, you can start setting it up and using it. First you need to link it to your smartphone for the correct collection and display of data. How to register an account, we wrote in dedicated to this topic, however, the abbreviated registration action plan looks like this:

  • Install the Mi Fit application after downloading it from the App Store (for iPhone) or the Play Market (for Android devices);
  • When desired programs will be installed, register your Mi account through the application or browser on your computer.

After the account has been registered, you can set up the bracelet. To do this, you need to enter some initial settings into the program.

Bracelet setting: instruction

  • Log in to the application with your username and password;
  • Fill in the form. Enter name, date of birth, weight and select gender;
  • Choose the minimum number of steps you want to take per day;
  • Next, you will see a special menu where you need to select the device you are going to connect. Do whatever the program asks.

After the synchronization of the bracelet and the application has taken place, Mi Fit will offer you to update the tracker firmware to current version. While the firmware is being updated, you can not turn off the smartphone or move the bracelet away from it for a long distance. Once the process is complete, you can start using the application.

Activity tab

After successfully updating and synchronizing the device with the program, you can start exploring the application interface. Let's start with the first section - "Activity". Here is the number of steps taken, distance traveled and calories burned. With a swipe to the left, you can open statistics for the past period, and the general summary of data can be sorted by weeks, months, and days. This tab contains the following sections:

  • Dream. Here you can see the statistics of the previous sleep session, indicating the duration of each phase, as well as awakening. By swiping to the right, you can see the previous statistics, there is also a sorting of data by time;
  • Weight. This section presents a complete graph of changes in weight with a list of users, the function "Weigh record". This section allows you to control BMI and the dynamics of weight changes, coupled with an assessment of the physique;
  • Achievement bar. In this tab, you can see a graph of the goals that have been achieved for the entire time the tracker has been used;
  • Run. Before you run this function, you need to enable GPS on your smartphone so that the application can correctly track the route and calculate the distance. While running, you can monitor your condition or track the trajectory on the map.

Notifications tab

The second important tab is "Notifications". Here you can configure the settings for notifications - both the application and the Xiaomi bracelet itself.

  • Challenges. You can adjust the response of the bracelet by vibration to incoming call a few seconds after it arrives on the phone. In addition, blocking will save you from calls from unknown phone numbers;
  • Alarm. Even if your phone runs out of power in the middle of the night, the smartwatch will wake you up at the specified time. They will also duplicate the phone's alarm signal with vibration if it is not enough for you;
  • Messages. The same as calls, only for SMS and notifications from applications;
  • Unlock. Here you can set up unlocking the smartphone through the bracelet using special gestures, as well as set the visibility of the bracelet for other devices.

  • View and change the parameters entered when connecting and setting up the Mi Band smart watch;
  • View the list of connected devices and find the bracelet by turning on vibration and flashing through your smartphone;
  • Change the color of the LEDs, set the time, and also set up time zones;
  • Choose the hand on which the bracelet is located;
  • Activate or block certain notifications;
  • View all data about the firmware version of the tracker and unbind from the smartphone;
  • Set goals (desired number of steps), various notifications and more.

Conclusion

We hope that with the help of this article you have figured out all the functions of a smart watch, understood how to properly set up the Xiaomi Mi Band 2 bracelet and how to install the Mi Fit program for comfortable use. If you have any questions - write in the comments, we will definitely try to help you!

After the presentation of Xiaomi Mi Band 3, even the fans of the company had a lot of questions about whether the third generation of fitness bracelets could oppose anything to the second. And it turned out that how else can: touchscreen, updated appearance capsules, larger battery, built-in timer, animation, alerts saving, improved IP68 water resistance.

The user manual for the bracelet will help you better understand its capabilities, reveal some secrets of using the device and tell you everything about how to set it up correctly.

Control

The touch screen is a real miracle compared to the previous generation smart watch. Widgets can now be controlled by swiping right-left and up-down.

On the main screen there is a dial with the date and time, in the upper part there is a Bluetooth connection icon (if there is no connection, it is crossed out). At the bottom, the battery percentage is displayed and the number of steps taken with a target indicator (on some firmware). You can change the home screen to one of three options, or install .

The next Xiaomi Mi band 3 widget is steps. There are no special changes here: the distance traveled and calories are still counted, and the percentage of charge is also displayed here. To find out the statistics on these metrics, you just need to swipe to the right.

To activate, you need to hold down the button for a few seconds and the fitness watch activates the heart rate monitor. If everything succeeds, a number will appear, if not, a cross and then you need to start the measurement again.

The next widget displays the number of alerts. With a swipe to the right, you can scroll through them, and if you hold down the button for a few seconds, then all messages will be deleted and the memory will be clear.

Weather

The innovation of the new generation of trackers from Xiaomi is the weather. The standard version displays information about temperature, cloudiness and precipitation for today, tomorrow and the day after tomorrow, but in custom firmware it is possible to display the current weather on the screen. Swipe to the right flips through the "calendar" for the next day.

Exercises

Next is one of the most important options - the training mode. To start, you need to hold down the button, then the continuous measurement of the pulse and the timer will turn on. With a swipe, you can see the heart rate and the current time. If you hold down the button again, you can pause. To continue - you need to "hit the display" the device will vibrate and the timer will start again. To exit the training mode, you need to pause it and hold the button again for a few seconds. If the exercises lasted very little, the error “Insufficient time to save” will appear.

New feature

The latest Xiaomi Mi band 3 widget is called "More". The first swipe will display the timer, the second one will activate silent mode on a smartphone, then there is a phone search (only works when Bluetooth is activated) and screen settings (you can choose one of three dials).

Functional

We figured out how to manage the fitness watch, now let's move on to the most important thing - setting up all the functions through the proprietary Mi Fit application. There are a number of new products that were not in the second version of the device.

Instructions in Russian do not often come with a bracelet, so at the end of the material there will be a link that will make it possible to download the user manual in PDF format.

Binding

Hours to the smartphone is performed in a standard way. If earlier another bracelet was attached to Mi Fit, then you need to untie it and only then add Mi Band 3.

After adding the device, it will appear short instruction from 6 slides. It is useful to get acquainted with it, although we told a lot in the first part of the article.

We talked about this possibility. The bottom line is that you can add the bracelet to the list of trusted devices and if it is within Bluetooth range, the phone can be unlocked without entering a password or graphic key. This only works on Android smartphones and is not configured correctly on all models

Call notification

Everything is simple here - if you turn on the option and the phone is connected to Xiaomi Mi band 3 via Bluetooth, then when you call the smartphone, the bracelet will vibrate and display the name of the contact. For correct work, you need to give Mi fit permission to work in the background. Here you can also turn on / off alerts for unknown numbers and the display of contact information. It is possible to activate a message delay of 3-30 seconds.

Events

If you often forget about important events, then event notifications will definitely help.

Instructions for using this function:

  1. Click on the plus button.
  2. Write the text of the event.
  3. Select notification time.
  4. Set repeat: once or every day/week/month.

Events are recorded in the tracker's memory and function perfectly even without a Bluetooth connection.

Alarm

The same famous, but not smart alarm clock. The vibration is quite strong, so you can definitely wake up from it. In the settings, you can activate the repeat mode and frequency: every day, only weekdays, or set an arbitrary interval.

It is very disappointing that there is no smart alarm clock, which was especially cool in the first version of the bracelet. It's good that there is unofficial software that returns the desired functionality.

Alerts

One of the main features of Xiaomi Mi band 3 is the display of notifications from applications. Of course, there are not big difficulties, for example, duplication of messages, but in general everything works as it should.

In this tab, you can activate the function and select desired applications. The bracelet's memory can store 5 messages, if more arrives, the data will be overwritten. The main advantage compared to the second version of the tracker is that now long messages can be viewed with a swipe to the left. Some custom firmwares also support emoji display.

"Don't mess around"

This is exactly what the next paragraph in our review sounds like. You need to set the time interval and the "rest" time. After that, the bracelet will analyze the activity for an hour. If, for example, you work at a computer in the office, then after an hour the tracker should vibrate and offer to take a walk.

There are two drawbacks: the functionality does not work quite correctly (the time was set from 9 to 17, but the notification came only at 10:30) and you cannot set days, for example, from Monday to Friday.

SMS

If you click on the “More” item in the “Profile”, the entire list of available options will open. There is a notification about incoming messages. If you activate the option, then Mi band 3 will display messages that come to the smartphone (only when connected via Bluetooth). The structure is simple: the icon of the message and the name of the contact are displayed in a scrolling line at the top, and the text of the message is displayed below.

There are no additional settings. Long messages are divided into several screens, which are swiped to the left. Too much big text truncated - an ellipsis appears at the end.

Vibration on alarm

If you enable the function, the bracelet will vibrate when the alarm goes off. A permanent Bluetooth connection is required for correct operation.

It is worth periodically looking at the device, if there is a crossed-out icon on the main screen, then there is no connection. By the way, you can set up a notification about disconnection, but more on that later.

Target Notification

There is nothing new here, if you set a goal of 8000 steps per day and complete it, you will receive a corresponding notification. Say, that's what a fine fellow you are, completed the task and keep the prize - a beautiful animated picture.

"Do not disturb"

You can turn off all alerts while you sleep or work. There are 2 standard modes: automatic or schedule. It is noteworthy that you can only set the time, but there are no days of the week.

It is also possible to enable the function of viewing information from the bracelet when raising the wrist.

Other settings

The main functions have come to an end, now we will talk about additional features Xiaomi mi band 3.

So, after the tab with the main points, there is a block of useful options. Instructions for operating these functions:

  • Pulse detection - automatic (24 hours), sleep assistant (improves the accuracy of sleep control. Measurement frequency: from 1 to 30 minutes. Very draining battery.

  • Smartphone search melody - you can leave the standard one or select the song set for the call.
  • Night mode - the function appeared in one of the recent updates. You can lower the screen brightness at night: after sunset or on your own schedule.

  • Bracelet screen lock - protection against accidental touches. A very cool feature - to unlock, you just need to swipe up and the device will be ready to go.
  • Display settings - here you can set the visibility of widgets on the Mi band screen. If you do not need weather or notifications, you need to move them to the very bottom and they will not be displayed on the display. If you do not like the current order of widgets, then this is also easy to fix by sorting.

  • Weather settings - you can set the city or set up automatic location detection, as well as set options for temperature and alerts.
  • Among the entire spectrum useful electronics smart watches and sports trackers rank first in terms of sales. Xiaomi has carved a niche in this market thanks to the compact devices of the Mi Band series. The second generation received an OLED display, which significantly expanded the capabilities of the device. More features means more scope for customization. Read on to learn how to set up and use the Xiaomi Mi Band 2 fitness bracelet.

    You received a box with a long-awaited gadget and unpacked it. What to do next?

    If you ordered a separate wrist mount from another manufacturer, then insert the plastic capsule of the device into the slot of the silicone strap. In addition to rubber, there is a wide range of leather, metal and polymer straps for every taste.

    The assembly principle is unchanged - insert the capsule only from the back side. Otherwise, over time, the silicone retaining ring will stretch, and the watch will begin to fall out of the mount. When you put the bracelet on your hand, the loop should look down, and the end of the strap with the button up.

    During the postal delivery or being in the warehouse, the battery of the device was discharged. It is possible that the gadget will be completely disabled. Insert the capsule into the socket of the charging cable that comes with the kit. The oval protruding window of the photoplethysmograph must fit into the semicircular groove of the connector. It is impossible to insert the other way around, this will violate the polarity and accumulator battery may fall into disrepair.

    Find a free power supply that provides a charge current of no more than 1 A and is equipped with USB connector. In order to reduce the cost, the manufacturer does not put his charger in the box. Do not use powerful blocks from tablets and modern smartphones with a current of more than 1 ampere. The battery doesn't like that.

    Insert the cord with the connected capsule into the power supply, plug the latter into a power outlet. The charging process takes an hour and a half, if everything is done correctly, then the battery indication will immediately appear on the display.

    You cannot turn the device on or off, it always works as long as there is enough energy in the battery. The display is activated by pressing the touch button. Additionally, you can set the inclusion by turning your hand.

    Synchronization with a smartphone

    The instruction is simple:

    1. If not yet, register a Mi account in the system (for Xiaomi devices).
    2. Download the Mi Fit app to your phone from official stores operating system phone: App Store, Play market(Play Store), WindowsPhone Choose a program with a corporate brand logo.
    3. Open the app and tap on the "Login" icon.
    4. Here the system will offer to register using a Mi account, suitable for owners of phones of the manufacturer of the same name with a bracelet. For the rest, activation is available using Google, WeChat, and Facebook.
    5. After registration, the program will ask for personal data: name, weight, gender, age, desired number of steps per day. We enter everything you need and get into the application menu.
    6. Here we click on the line "Device is not connected". The system will prompt you to select the required gadget. Click on the bracelet.
    7. The system will issue a warning, we agree.
    8. If Bluetooth was not enabled beforehand, the system will offer to activate it.
    9. And go to the search for devices.
    10. After searching for all devices with working Bluetooth, select the one you need. The bracelet vibrates happily. It remains only to click on the "Accept" button.

    Sync Issues

    Before sounding the alarm:

    • check the charge level of the bracelet;
    • restart the phone;
    • we check the Bluetooth functionality on both devices, trying to connect them with something else, such as a tablet;
    • if previously there was a successful synchronization, and now everything is gone, go to the profile settings in the Mi Fit application and look for the line "Previously connected devices", select the bracelet, turn it off and try to synchronize again.

    The last option is worth talking about in more detail:

    1. Delete the app and download more old version to the phone.
    2. Connect the bracelet with bluetooth enabled via USB to a PC.
    3. Synchronize your device with old program, after pulling the capsule out of the cord.
    4. Happened? Install latest version apps and sync again.
    5. Now you can uninstall the old program.

    Now that the tracker is completely ready for use, it needs to be configured. This is done using the Mi Fit application. On Android, it can be downloaded from the Google Play Market, and iPhone users should search the App Store. Short review bracelet customizable features:

    • screen unlock - allows you to unlock the smartphone tied to Mi Band 2;
    • calls - displaying information about an incoming call on the clock display, vibration notification, call control;
    • alarm clock - silent effective alarm clock with calculation of sleep phases;
    • apps - brings app notifications to the Mi Band screen;
    • inactivity - if the user has been sitting motionless for an hour, the watch will remind you to warm up;
    • messages - shows information about messages that came to the phone;
    • device alarm clock - vibrates, duplicating the sound alarm clock of a smartphone;
    • programming goals - if you set a goal for the day in terms of the number of steps and reached it, you will receive a notification about it;
    • do not disturb - select a period of time when the gadget does not vibrate and does not receive notifications, so as not to disturb the owner.

    In addition, there are a number of functions that are configured separately, they set the overall behavior of the tracker.

    1. Finding a bracelet - turns on triple vibration to find a gadget if it is lost somewhere. Drains battery quickly with frequent use.
    2. Visibility - switches the visibility mode of the Bluetooth module. If disabled, then no phones in the area will be able to connect to the bracelet, but the already established connection and binding will work. Turning on visibility may be needed to pair the tracker with applications other than the standard Mi Fit. This is required to download custom firmware.
    3. Location - depending on which hand you wear the watch on, select the appropriate option.
    4. Wristband screen settings - select the items displayed on the display.
    5. Time Format - There are two options. Just hours and clocks with date.
    6. The backlight on the clock - this item has nothing to do with the backlight. In fact, the function allows you to turn on the display not only by pressing a button, but also by moving your wrist. You need to wave your hand the way you do when you look at the clock. False positives are a common problem, so the option is not for everybody.
    7. Rotate your wrist to switch between items - In addition to the previous setting, turning your hand not only turns on the display, but also switches menu items, similar to pressing a button.
    8. Pulse detection - there are three options for the operation of the pulse sensor. Manual - the calculation is carried out only at the user's choice. Automatic - measurement is carried out around the clock at intervals of 1, 10 or 30 minutes. Sleep assistant - the pulse is counted by a cunning algorithm from time to time to determine when the user has fallen asleep. At the same time, a conclusion is made about the quality and depth of sleep by pulse.

    Smart alarm clock

    Initially, Mi Fit does not have such a function. The built-in vibration alarm works well, but it does not adjust to the sleep phases in any way, it just turns on at a predetermined time.

    It is possible to link data from the heart rate monitor to an alarm clock so that the device wakes you up in the most appropriate phase of sleep. In this case, the user specifies an extreme wake-up time, for example, 7 o'clock in the morning. Falls asleep, the watch begins to count the pulse and process information. In the morning, the program analyzes the information and wakes the person up in the half-hour interval between 6:30 and 7:00, adjusting to the data on the sleep phase.

    Thus, the awakening is easy, and the morning is good. To enable this feature, you will need to use third party applications. They are paid, but there is always the opportunity to download for free if you search on the Internet.

    To set up an alarm, download and install two apps: Sleep As Android and Tools & Mi Band. The first is a smart alarm clock with rich settings. The second is an analogue of the "native" Mi Fit with advanced features. Both are in the Play Store.

    1. Enable motion tracking with the accelerometer in Sleep As Android. To do this, go to Settings - Wearables - Use wearable.
    2. Set up heart rate monitoring while you sleep. This is done in Tools & Mi Band. Menu items: Navigation drawer - Heart rate - Settings. Set the interval at which the bracelet will take measurements. Then go to Sleep As Android, Settings - Wearables - Heart rate monitoring and enable heart rate monitoring there as well.

    Overnight, the battery of the device sits down by about 5%. In Sleep As Android, after a night you can see detailed graphs with information about sleep.

    Time setting

    Set time for some certain value no need. The watch itself picks up information after synchronization with the phone. The accuracy of the time display on the bracelet depends on the readings of the smartphone. The correct readings are provided by the telecom operator, usually the device receives the time value from the cellular network.

    Entering wear location settings

    The operation of the algorithm that counts steps and calories burned depends on which hand you wear the gadget on. Specify the correct place to wear. You can set this in Mi Fit on the "Profile" tab - Mi Band 2 - Device location.

    Display information on the bracelet

    The following items are available to display on the screen of the fitness bracelet:

    • time;
    • Steps;
    • distance;
    • calories
    • pulse;
    • remaining charge.

    Items are switched one by one, sequentially, by pressing the touch key or by turning the wrist, if the corresponding option is selected.

    In addition, the display of the name of the caller is available, which is configured in the "Calls" column on the "Profile" tab.

    Application notifications

    It is possible to connect an alarm about application notifications of your choice in the corresponding menu item. The “Messages” item works in a similar way, the screen displays the name of the contact who sent the SMS, and the first few words. Select the programs whose notifications you want to duplicate on the bracelet display.

    You can turn on the "Receive only when the screen is off" option so that the watch does not vibrate when the smartphone display is active. Some applications have special notification icons, while most use one standard picture labeled App.

    Software settings

    The fitness tracker is fully serviced and configured with the participation of one application - Mi Fit. No other software is required to work. About the settings of Xiaomi Mi Band 2 it is written above, now we will consider the points related directly to Mi Fit.

    The following options are available on the Profile tab:

    1. Friends - add friends who use the same Xiaomi device. You can view statistics and achievements. You can add a friend by scanning his QR code, which is generated by the application.
    2. Add accounts - the only interesting thing here is the ability to link Mi Fit and Google Fit. Synchronization with the Google app allows you to use the data from the bracelet's sensors in many other fitness applications.
    3. Activity Notifications - The app will send you an alert in the evenings with a summary of the day's activity.
    4. Sleep information is the same, only sent in the morning and contains last night's sleep statistics.
    5. Behavior labels are a very strange feature, the purpose is not fully understood. Perhaps the tags allow you to "teach" the gadget to recognize different types of activity. In practice, no difference was found. It is not clear whether there is any point in using labels.
    6. Help - read help.
    7. Settings - there is a choice of units of measurement (metric, imperial or Chinese system) and the inclusion of a constantly hanging Mi Fit notification in the curtain. The item "About the application" contains information about the version of the firmware, algorithm and program.

    Another group of settings is available on the "Activity" tab by clicking on the gear in the upper right corner. These options are for tracking workouts - running, cycling and walking.

    1. Auto Pause - When you stop while running or riding, the workout is also disabled to avoid downtime.
    2. Voice assistant - informs about the pace of running, speed and distance traveled. Provides information about your heart rate and whether you need to run faster or slower.
    3. Keep the screen on - the display does not turn off during a workout.
    4. Display information on the lock screen.
    5. Select a map - select a geolocation provider.
    6. High heart rate warning - the bracelet will vibrate when your heart rate rises above the set level. The value is set by the slider on the scale.
    7. Pace Alert - only works for outdoor running, the band will vibrate if you run too slow. The tempo is also set by the slider.

    Firmware updates

    It happens automatically, the user does not need to participate in the process. At the first synchronization of a new tracker, the latest firmware will be loaded.

    It was noticed that the version of the algorithm depends on what language is installed on the phone. If you turn on Simplified Chinese, and then go to Mi Fit and untie-attach the gadget, the firmware will be updated to a version that is not available in Russian.

    Reset to factory settings

    You cannot reset data directly. When the watch is unlinked from the phone, statistics are deleted from Mi Fit. The bracelet has its own memory module where information is stored. It is erased only when the tracker is turned off, which occurs after the battery is completely discharged.

    Some users advise putting the capsule in the freezer to speed up the discharge process. Indeed, at low temperatures lithium polymer batteries lose capacity. But this method cannot be recommended, because there is a risk of damaging the device and the battery.

    Unbinding from an account

    We go to the "Profile" tab in Mi Fit and scroll down the page. Click the "Unbind" button. After confirmation, the tracker will be disconnected from the smartphone, data synchronization on the bracelet with the phone will stop. The device is connected back in the standard way, through "Profile" - "Add device".

    As you can see, setting up the Xiaomi Mi Band 2 fitness bracelet is not that difficult. There are really a lot of options, which turns Mi Band 2 into a multifunctional assistant that perfectly complements a smartphone.
